Gallardo Spyder ... anyone know these cars?
Discussion
I'm just lining up some viewings and wondered if anyone knew or had any info on these cars?

i dread to think how the second one's been driven in order to require a new clutch after 10khttp://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/l...

andrew, maybe they didn't press the brake/engage 'N' in town so allowing the egear to slip the clutch....
OP, as your budget goes up wards, there are also these cars....

the orange one had a new clutch at 14k iirc and is UH-Matt's old car, though that was back in 2011..... been sold yearly since....

Agreed. The early clutches were a bit "marzipan" but 2006 onwards were very robust. I did over 15000 on an e-gear and negligible wear when I sold it. I guess lots of stop/start or reversing up hilly drives etc.andrew said:

Bit unfair. Could be for many reasons. My old car had a new clutch at about 12k miles, but it was due to my parking situation. I used the car a LOT and had to reverse up a hill on full lock to get into my parking. It was driven correctly other than this having to be done anytime the car went out , and the clutch HATED it.

tbh i destroyed half my front garden, covering it in stone, so as to make parking a little easier

Needs a transparent engine cover and to be wrapped in Verdi Ithica!! iandc said:

Yep, I wouldn't go any older than a 2006 egear. My budget stops me getting anything newer than 2008 really but there does seem to be quite a choice at the mo in that range. 70proof said:
Did see this one but I think I'd kick myself for not getting a Spyder. OP, many have of us have been here, the budget creeps and creeps and before you know it..... kaboom.... you're spending way more than you intended.....
if you have your heart set on a spyder, then a spyder it is....
if you are selling in 3-4 years, then buy the best condition car there is, and don't worry if its a bit individual as you are not looking to flip it quickly say end of summer....
something that is a bit 'wrong' this can be bought cheaper, and then sold later a bit cheaper... eg wrong colour, no heated seats etc
the stitched seats wear better than the standard seats btw, the soft italian leather deforms on those....
you have a choice of some good cars there, including the blue one also... good luck.....c them all!!

btw, have you also looked on autotrader...... couple of pearl white ones there.....
http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/2013...
this one has a chocolate and white interior...... so you might be able to haggle a bit on the price..., and it might not look too bad in the flesh.... though no proper interior pics makes you worry....

Good luck with the search - the black one has been with JPerformance for some time - when I was searching for my spyder, it was priced around late £85k.
The grey one seems to have a mis-aligned front bonnet / bumper.
I bought a 2008 Spyder recently, 10k miles, 3 previous owners, still has original clutch (60% worn) and original tyres - hopefully a sign of being looked after..

Dont tell anyone but I am 'looking' too. I have seen images of the interior and its something you would have to see in the flesh to decide but very easy to make quick negative judgement. I owned a carmen red 997 with cocoa leather which was really nice but it was a challenge to sell it to the normal (black blue silver) 911 buyer. First person to see it bought it tho.http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/2013...

The car above is a manual (ad says egear and manual) and short on the extras that you would expect like its got no heated seats (who cares?) and it has not got the alloy perforted leather steering wheel (a nice extra) which is a shame. The seller was helpful and I may still pursue it.

Hmmm, as I look closer at the grey one the pic does make the front look a bit out. I wonder if it's the angle it was taken from. The grey one seems to have a mis-aligned front bonnet / bumper.

I'm after egear so it rules this out. I can see the ad again now, cheap car based on the spec and being private I guess. The car above is a manual (ad says egear and manual) and short on the extras that you would expect like its got no heated seats (who cares?) and it has not got the alloy perforted leather steering wheel (a nice extra) which is a shame. I was too but £10-£15k in your pocket to dip the clutch now and again is worth considering. My last Gallardo was an egear and its not the best paddle shift in the world TBH. nigelonich said:

I've just sold a BMW 650i to help fund the G. The gearbox and paddle shift on that was top notch but it's not really a direct comparison! I'm looking at '07 or newer so hopefully the box will better than the older ones. There's a manual at a place I'm going to tomorrow so I'll see if I can take it for a drive. It's a nice car as well but it just depends on the clutch shift etc. Gassing Station | Supercar General | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
