Anyone have an idea what this is?
On any given webpage, various random words are in blue and underlined - I'm using Chrome and clicking on them takes me to another site. Is it spyware / an extension? Is very irritating!

It's spy/adware.

Have a look in your Chrome plugins for something like Intellitxt and remove it.

Sometimes you find forums (not this one mind) have something that does that, when you click the link it earns then a tiny bit of money.

I would assume you've got some sort of malware that someone is earning money from.

check your browser plugins and download malware bytes, see if that finds it.
