A lad at work has some Jingjong 125 thing that he is desperate to sell after deciding to move to Australia. It is an 11 plate so won't need an MOT and it runs fine. I am thinking of making him a fairly low offer to take it off his hands with a view to selling on, however are these things easy to sell? I have no experience of them but it's apparently the same as the trusty CG125 that riding schools have sworn by for years. I don't want to be stuck with it for very long though, does anyone have experience of selling one on?

Resale values tend to be pretty poor, mainly due to the image they have of being of cheap build quality (not entirely undeserved).

I'd steer clear if you're simply looking to buy it and sell on for a profit.

If you do decide to sell it, use Gumtree just keep it away from ebay.

Their new no quibble buyer returns policy is a total joke. I am now currently fighting a "Not as described" dispute regarding the sale of a classic 30 year old analogue synthesiser, which was "immaculate and perfect" in every way. The idiot has had it two months, previously left me positive feedback (I've got over 800 positives) yet ebay rang me yesterday and warned me that I may have to repay him in full.

Over my dead body! Selling anything on there is an absolute joke, let alone a Chinese motorcycle. Good luck either way.

There are some good established brands of Chinese bikes such as Sinnis, if your looking to get one of the 'good' ones then you won't see much issue selling on. The problem is the profit won't be as good as say a Jap bike. If it's a cheapo no name brand, just stay away IMHO.

Looking the same as a trustworthy CG125 is nothing like actually being one, the fact most dealers will not accept Chinese bikes as a trade in should tell you enough about them in terms of second hand resale value.

I tried to sell my Chinese 125 - no luck, so decided to keep it, just been out for a blast round the lanes - much fun, so glad I still have it. cheap bikes but don't expect much cash back if you want to sell.

I sold my pulse adrenaline 125 supermoto in september last year. I bought it brand new in march 2012 for £1500. In between the six months i had it i managed to put on just shy of 4000 odd miles on it. Id ridden it all over scotland and it never missed a beat. Granted the quality of the plastics were ste as they didnt have any flex in them so the mounting poibts cracked from the vibrations. But mechanically it was solid aslong as you kept it clean and ACF 50'd.

I managed to sell mine or £850 plus £160 delivery costs. And that was only because some spotty 17 year old who had no clue about bikes was desperate for it. Anyone else that new about bikes offered me in the region of £500 to £700. And beleive me i struggled selling it at the start.

So if you dont plan on reselling it. Theb thats fine. But if you do. Expect to sell it for pennies

Thanks for the advice. I know it won't be a highly desirable bike to anyone, but surely if I get it for the right price there is some margin to made? I'm thinking of offering £300.

Depends in what make it is. The only brands of bike id ever go near are pulse, sinnis or lexmoto as you can actually get spares for them

See what they cost new. I knew of one make that was £499 OTR.

I was looking around a Lexmoto 125 yesterday whilst my bike was being MOT'd, I think it was called an XTR. Blatant copy of the CBF125, which from the front I thought it was at first. On a 12-plate and looked a bag of ste up close, other than the well kept tank bag and top box. Then I saw it had 12,000 on the clock and a couple of signs it had been dropped on the left hand side.

I'd only bother if it had very low mileage and was very cheap.

It's a copy of a CBR 125 actually, using a copy of a CG 125 engine.

Generally consider them to be disposable over about a 3 year period. Bought a 2 year old CG125 clone (from a mates girlfiend so we knew it's history) for about £400 and sold it a for about £200 a couple of years later. Needed new shocks for the MoT and the throttle cable snapped whcih gives you an idea of how well built they are, but Honda parts fit and are plentiful on e-bay (think we paid about £30 for a pair of shocks).

As a cheap learner bike for someone who doesn't mind doing a bit of fettling they're great, don't expect to make a profit on one though.

Hi there I'm a newby to biking so forgive my lack of knowledge but I have a lexmoto 125 xtrs that my son blew up by acting the div I wanted to know what engine would fit beside a lexmoto I know it's a copy of the Honda but not sure if it's a cg or cbf engine can anyone help with this please

I'd start with spares or repair secondhand bikes for an engine. Although don't just buy the bits for him, if he's blown the engine up he can fix it or pay for fixing it himself...
