Background bit - had car serviced by OPC few months ago. Once I got it back home it went back into the garage.
A few weeks later I took it out for a long drive and noticed oil on the garage floor just under the drivers side in front of the rear wheel.
The car has never leaked a drop before onto the floor so I notified the OPC where it was serviced and they arranged to look at it again.
They had the car second time round for most of the day and mentioned something about some residue oil pn the tray that was just escaping so nothing to worry about and the cause may have been some damage to the oil filter (by a washer?).
They said they gave everything a clean and that it had stopped leaking so was ok now.

However, just been to see the car and there is another leak in the same place. Its bren a month since it last went back to the OPC but I don't get the chance to use the car often due to work commitments and its not stored at my house.

I'm starting to get fed up with the leak and the hassle although also worried that there could be engine issues (i'm not mechanically minded but i think its only the oil tank in front of the rear wheel so nothing related to the engine block buy i'm surprised that it has been leaking after the oil service and also if it is caused by a damaged oil filter should they not replace it?

Also, should I be taking it back to OPC (I expect them to repair this FOC) or go to an independant?

Also, should i be worried about the leak?

Thanks

Make? Model? Miles? History?

The leak could be from some service goof. The oil service procedure calls for the engine to be run (at least) and a check for leaks made.

The leak checks focus on where the tech was: oil drain plug, filter; and not over the entire engine, though I have had more than once a tech catch a leak (camshaft cover in one car, possible RMS in another) that was not related to the drain plug or filter.

However, it reads like the car doesn't get used much. Thus the leak could be from a seal or gasket that has dried/shrunk a bit. RMS are known to leak in cars that aren't driven much.

But it reads like the leak is not from the RMS area.

My best advice is to take the car back and report the leak. Whether the leak is due to aging of the seals/gaskets, a cracked oil filler tube (or oil tank though this is rare), or just sloppy work with the oil nozzle, the OPC will have to make this determination.

That the oil leak signals anything serious with the engine a real long shot but an oil leak even without serious engine trouble behind it is a real problem that should be addressed.

I should mention that the car is a RHD '95 993 C2 manual coupe.

Mileage is 74k and car has had a service every year of its life regardless of mileage.

Hi the area by the rear wheel also has one of the oil filters,or the actual drain plug could have cracked due to over tightening, seen it before.

Same here on a 993, drivers side front of rear wheel. It was a split rubber seal on the oil filter (if memory serves).

If it is a split seal or cracked plug Would I be right in thinking the OPC should be able to spot it relativy easily and quickly?
