I'm looking for a mondeo at the moment, and a few of them I've seen have "privacy" glass on the rear windows, which I think looks st.

Does anyone know If its a removable film, or coloured glass?

We have a 2007 Titanium-X 2.5T and the privacy glass is black tinted glass as stated above

"looks st"?

Each to their own, I suppose. I was never a big fan, and wouldn't have ticked the option box if I'd bought new, but I think it looks pretty good, to be fair.

And no, you can't scratch it off. My sister's kids tried furious

Nope, it's darkened glass. When spec'ing my Fiesta, the salesman thought I was mad for not specifying it, since every single one from that dealership had that option ticked! (Metal edition, not every single Fiesta).

Eventually managed to find a cancelled one without, very pleased smile

I'm sure you could ask them to remove (I know people who have had this done), but I don't think it's cheap.

Horses for courses- I actively look for privacy glass in every car I buy.

I think it looks naff having different tints front and back so I can see where the OP is coming from. May be worth pricing up the normal glass and throwing the tinted stuff in the skip straight after buying?

I think it used to look sort of OK when you could have a light tint on the fronts then a darker one on the rears.

Now, to me, it looks odd when you have virtually clear front and almost black rears.

Given a choice I'd give it a swerve.

Thats my problem, I'm after a black mondeo. If it has privacy glass in the rear only it looks like a van smile

I really cant see the point of privacy glass on any car unless you are a celeb of some sorts. Its like having two alloys and 2 steel wheels!!!

Celeb or funeral director's daily runner.

Saying that, my mate who's a funeral director uses a Saab 9-3 Estate with clear glass all round, even left it parked in a main street 'with someone in the car' when he popped into my office last summer (the someone he referred to was the other undertaker who helped him collect the client).
