Got a new Panasonic ST60 on saturday - plugged in my USB plug n play drive to watch a film and the message 'USB Overcurrent' popped up. Never seen it before but appears the USB is drawing too much power - is this correct and is there a way round it?

When you say "drive" is it essentially a hard drive? As I imagine yes, this would try to draw too much current.

Probably only meant to support solid state flash drives "memory sticks" as it were.

Thanks smile I feel very fortunate to have it. Not as nice as the 2.5m screen in the theatre room... wink haha.

Yes it's a plug and play USB hard drive powered by the USB connection to the TV. I had a 58" inch Samsung which dealt with it fine, but that broke and the Panasonic is the replacement. Strange but oh well.

Must say the picture quality for a blu-ray is just awesome smile

It'll cost about £10 to buy either a 64GB flash drive or a powered USB hub, either should fix the problem.

How many USB ports does it have? If there are two you could use one of these cables...

Or plug the 'second' USB plug into a nearby bluray player or similar to provide enough power, you'd probably need to add a USB extension cable to reach.

Thats a decent idea - I think that might be the way forward. I have a powered USB but I feel uneasy having it 'running' all day every day unless every time I unplug which seems like a chore.

In that case, buy one of these, it stops the TV using power in standby, and would "unplug" the USB hub too,
