After a while being a just a reader here, finally decided to join to get some input on a problem I’m having.

I got myself a 996 TT just a few days ago and plan to use it as a daily driver 365 days of the year, i.e. that also means the -20C winters here in Estonia. Problem being – I’m not really convinced that the 18" factory wheels are the best option during the winter and in the snow.

Hence the idea that I should get myself a nice set of 17" wheels. I had similar setup for my 944 and 951 previously and this has worked for me pretty well.
Now, I’m quite weird about having the car as close to original as I can get, so I’d like the wheels to be Porsche originals.

Does anyone have definitive info on which of the 996 17" wheels will fit the 996 TT? I’ve searched the forum and as usually everyone wants to get bigger wheels, I’m a bit out of luck. Can I safely assume that all the 996 series wheels will fit (offset is the main question, width of the narrow body 996 wheels shouldn’t be a problem I presume).

I think offset, as well as brake caliper clearance will be your issues.

No direct experience. All I can suggest is check out what winter wheel/tire combos Porsche offered or offers -- you might be able to find this online -- and that's your guideline. If you find a set of 17" wheels then you know.

My WAG is 18" is as small as you can go because of brake clearance. 18" wheels fitted with proper (real) snow/ice tires should suffice just fine. Many here in the USA run their Turbo year round and use 18" snow/ice tires and report no problems unless the snow depth is too much. The Turbo is ground clearance limited.

No direct experience of this myself, but according to this thread on rennlist, 17" wheels will clear the brakes but you will need spacers.

ETA: The 996 C4S has the exact same wheel sizes and brakes as the 996tt

Prehaps PSM would also need to be reset.
