The PistonHeads Motoring Week

Forget the weather or the Royal baby; all the news you really need is in the Motoring Week

Over the past seven days we’ve been introduced to Chris Harris’s new car, explored another Dream Drive, watched the Spa 24-hour and discovered just what a convertible Range Rover looks like. Don’t say there’s no variety!

There’s been a distinctly British flavour to our news coverage this week. Following the debut of the Mini Vision concept on Monday, we logged the recent activity with our Mini Clubvan. Though undertaken by an American company, the convertible Range Rover qualifies as Brit car news also; whether it’s good is another matter! The big story from Jaguar was that ten XKR-S GTs would be made for Britain; a video of a TWR XJS proved a popular Time for Tea also. The final dose of Brit power on PH this week came in the form of the Aston V8 Vantage. Following Wednesday’s Buying Guide, it only seemed appropriate to feature a beautiful £30K Vantage as a YouKnow You Want To.

The BMW M6 Competition Pack added further choice to an already bewildering M line-up; this gorgeous M635 CSi made a Spotted feature as a reminder of simpler specification days. Speaking of regression, Chris Harris has replaced the 599 with a 512 TR; there’s not a magnetorheological damper in sight. Monkey’s video this week featured a Fiesta ST, a G63 AMG and a trailer. Watch the ridiculous result here.

The Toyota GT86 has made two appearances on PH this week, featuring with its BRZ twin in BloodBrothers and also has the car for Matt’s Dream Drive. Another affordable favourite of ours, the Renaultsport Twingo 133, now has the power it deserves thanks to K-Tec, whilst an official Renault Clio RS Gordini could be on the cards too.

Our PH regular slots featured a Porsche 997 Turbo (Carpool), a Toyota Celica (Shed) and a Lamborghini Aventador (POTW); again, there’s certainly plenty on offer! We’ve also had news on fake Ferraris, Google Glass and some terrific T-shirts from your favourite motoring website.

The most controversial piece of news from this week takes us back to BMW. The i3 electric citycar was unveiled in full production spec ahead of sales beginning later this year. It represents a completely new direction for BMW, an issue we discussed in our story.

Finally, don't forget to check out our latest Dunlop Pure Driving Experience video. This episode sees Steve Sutcliffe venture to the autobahn in a tuned Audi S5.

Very nice megane, would still save £4k and buy a Focus RS though!
