PistonHeads at the Britcar Silverstone 1000km

Dust off your tent for another Sliverstone enduro epic

With just over a week to go until the Silverstone 1000km (September 20th-22nd), we’re getting our wellies packed and tent building skills perfected. For those of you that haven’t yet made plans for the weekend, drop everything and book tickets now. Why? Because PH is now offering £25 off camping, that’s why.

The deal applies to any order where two or more camping pitches are booked for at least five people. That saving, conveniently enough, will pay for five entry tickets to the PH Friday night party. Now there’s a plan, right? Scroll down for your voucher code and details of how to bag the saving.

But of course, there’s so much more to the weekend than sleeping under canvas and a PH shindig; there’s even some motorsport going on...

The Silverstone 1000km weekend features two 1,000km races, one on Saturday evening for the Production Cup cars who will battle into the night and one on Sunday afternoon for the MSA British Endurance Championship. In addition there will be a full complement of support races, plus day and night qualifying sessions, running from Friday morning through to Sunday evening.

The PistonHeads camping area will again be at Winterhills Field, close to the circuit within short walking distance of grandstands and National pit straight. There will be marked out, allocated pitches, with toilet and shower facilities on the campsite. PHers will all be camped together so that you will be amongst likeminded people. As well as the three days of action on the track, don't forget that PH party on Friday night in the circuit and parade laps on Saturday morning.

From the site it is a short walk to the viewing area opposite the National Paddock and Pits. Access to the paddock area and infield viewing areas is via a tunnel near Copse corner.  This brings you our near the top end of the paddock and the viewing bank by copse corner.

There are two sizes of camping pitches available that can be purchased as a package with entry tickets and a programme, or if you have already purchased your tickets you can buy the camping pitch on its own. Please note the latest offer applies to camping pitches only. The table below details the package types and prices:

Saturday Parade Laps: We have slots available for PH parade laps as part of the club parade laps taking place on the day, charged at just £20 per car (bookable when booking camping).

Sunday Service: We will be hosting a special Sunday Service at the circuit on Sunday in association with Dunlop. This will be open to all PHers, not just campers, but adds another highlight to the weekend. More details to follow soon!

Last year was outstanding! It's a shame there isn't the 24 hours race, but this seems like an excellent substitute!

So are the parade laps on Saturday, Sunday or both?

This article says it's Saturday but the "Dunlop and Pistonheads at Britcar 1000km" article says we're doing it on Sunday as part of the SS.

What payment covers us for what?

There is a little confusion on the other thread too. Hopefully we will have a clearer picture in the next few days.

Have you looked at the event timetable on the Silverstone website http://www.silverstone.co.uk/events/Britcar-1000km...
It doesn't match the above event listing and Britcar themselves are confirming that the Silverstone page is correct. I will wait until the end of month for the BTCC.

I am now very confused about this. I got my ticket for this yesterday, and it does not indicate it covers 2 people.

I assume there will be some clarification about exactly what is going on soon?

Yet we can't seem to get a schedule sorted... whistle

A PH party with beer is something I may have to be careful of if I'm to be driving the morning after. However there's no mention of this on the Silverstone website (we're on their list as 10am on Sunday) yet the article above states twice that this is Saturday morning.

Could we please have some clarity from someone at PH on the following:

  • When are the parade laps happening?
  • What does the £20 SS ticket cover? People/cars/general entry/parade laps? this seems to explain a bit. 2 adults for one ticket but what about 2 adults in separate cars..? That article also says that the parade lap is on Sunday.
  • I've booked camping with tickets (duo) plus £20 for the "Saturday" parade laps. What does this cover me for? SS Parade lap? SS entry?
Please feel free to add to the list...

Equally concerned by the timetable. Tickets have arrived (bought them on autocrat deal back in march) saying fri, sat & sun, but timetable on Silverstone site says only sat & sun.

As already mentioned, this needs clarifying. Are there any Britcar competitors on here that would know?

Keep an eye on the Britcar forum, I received this from the organisers a few week back and posted their:

From the Organisers:

To clarify we have 1 race now which will be on the Sunday afternoon with qualifying and free practice on the Saturday along with the Porsche Championship.

We are hoping to release the timetable final on Monday.

We organise the camping at Winterhills for the Britcar event and can see why there is some confusion.

The PistonHeads Sunday Service parade is on Sunday. This is different from the Saturday parade laps that we have on offer as part of the PH camping promotion.

However, we have noticed a slight flaw with our PH camping package in relation to Sunday Service. The PH'ers that are camping with us may also want to go to the Sunday Service, but have already bought their entry tickets as part of their camping package.

We have contacted Britcar and are pleased to say that if you are a PHer camping with us and are planning to attend the Sunday Service, we will provide you with the Sunday Service parking permit on arrival at the campsite.

You will still need to sign up to the event in the usual way via the Calendar ( sign up here).

For the PH Parade you will also need to complete and sign the Track Indemnity form ( download here)

Speaking with Britcar about the event schedule, "Friday is a test day with no specific timetable as we are allowing all teams to run including Porsche in an open testing format."

Hope this helps and apologies for the confusion.
