Had the car for 9 months now and it's been fantastic but...

A small but I need to post to get your thoughts.

When I move off in first gear with moderate power I get a squeal if I use less power I get no noise.

My thoughts are clutch bearing its not a major problem but slightly irritating.

I have done 5k miles and its always done it.

Cheers

Clutch on DBS was either in or out with very little feel, if that makes sense. I had squeal on mine when setting off as well.

Had clutch replaced after 8k miles and car has been transformed. Gears are easier to select and car is far more controllable on the clutch. I believe it's a known problem on V12 and only fix is the later style clutch.

Mine was done und warranty so keep on at them and hopefully you will have a successful outcome.

Car has now turned 11k
The noise only lasts about 2 seconds and only in first.
I've never been able to do a quick get away neither but that maybe me but I soon catch up lol
Service is due next month and I have extended warranty so I might get lucky.
It a 2008 model so it was one of the first releases

My DBS did that too and they changed the clutch under warranty.

The early V12Vs had a clutch squeal when moving away slowly - it has since been rectified. Nothing too serious but I opted to have my clutch changed under warranty at 10k miles.

Mine squeals under the same circumstances. A little too much power while slipping the clutch on getaway and she emits a short squeal, but moderate the throttle and no sound at all. I imagine that simply dumping the clutch with a lot of power applied would not exhibit the squeal, but the tires wouldn't like it too much.

I may have mine done, but for me it wouldn't be warranty fix.

I have exactly the same squeal on my 2010 V8, just haven't got around to getting it booked in with Aston to be checked.

Different clutch assembly to the DBS and V12V, but it could obviously be a similar situation. The DBS / V12V is a twin plate affair and early ones had an issue with the clutch cover making a noise due to vibration.

I assumed it was the clutch itself. Would you elaborate on how the clutch cover is making the noise?

My guess would of been the thrust race bearing.

I am not technical enough to answer that I am afraid, I was told by the dealer that there was an upgraded clutch cover that cured this vibration / squeal.

Aha, so maybe it is the throwout bearing outer race/housing as thought by V8 Animal.

Took the car to Aston Martin Works today and they suspect the squeal on my V8V is the clutch release bearing so it's booked in now to be sorted. They did say it's very rare on the V8V, a lot more common on the V12V.

Spoke to Stratstone today about this and there fully aware of the issue and the brakes too.
They will contact AM but my outcome maybe not that good as the car is 5 years old but i will have to wait and see.
In my favour is a extended warranty and loyality.
