BMW ConnectedDrive: PH Ad Break

Why do you need internet access in a BMW? To undertake a bank job, obviously

A video entitled 'Big Business. Thanks to BMW ConnectedDrive' seems fairly innocuous. Perhaps a trader is using the internet in their BMW to check stocks, or maybe a property developer wants to research an area en route.

Both viable, but perhaps a tad predictable. So instead BMW has decided in all its wisdom to imply that ConnectedDrive can help the armed robbery division of your 'Big Business'. Seriously.

It's all by implication. However, the combination of one driver, three men disguised as clowns and a quick check using ConnectedDrive of the bank's opening times make the intentions rather blatant. It's all rather last minute for a robbery to our eyes though, which rather suggests a lack of planning...

See here.

Time for someone at BMW to give the green light to a new series of short films.

BMW have obviously changed target markets from those who run the banks to those who more blatantly just take the big money out of the system.

Or is this the first strand in undermining the forthcoming new Jag which could replace the Mk2 as the getaway car of choice?

I know this is supposed to be humorous, but to me it says " BMW's are driven by oiks" Not a good message.

Didn't quite see the logic in that either. I dare say the ad will get pulled like that suicide one done recently by another manufacturer.

Anyway, I have a smart phone for this sort of thing, not a car.

I have no idea why we don't already have a coffee machine option for new cars. Machines are already available in a myriad of sizes and designs, not to mention hot and boiling water taps. And anything with an engine generates heat, not to mention batteries are getting larger and larger so powering a tiny espresso machine would be a doddle. Add to that the potential to carry some water and it's a no brainer. I know campers have them but it would need to be even smaller in a car. The only problems I see is keeping the whole thing clean, which will mean having a removable or part removable system, and making sure the water only heats on up demand (e.g. through some hot piping or summat!). The cups would have to be small and possibly partly enclosed to limit spillage. Now to find a way of stopping people from making an espresso while driving at 100mph, but that's where common sense comes in.

Hope the chaps working on the S-class Pullman are reading this. Chuck in a microwave too.

I'm going to put this up on Kickstarter... hehe

Well as BMW's are so easily nicked, it's the obvious choice for a bank robber.. !

Made me laugh, I actually thought that a coffee machine would be a good idea in a luxobarge driving back from Budapest the other day...

Or send Emails about GOVERNMENT Ministers if you're a concerned constituent and you've just taken your nephew down to Downing St. in the hope of spotting Boris Johnson doing stoppies on his push bike.

bank jobs are a thing of the past surely it would be more in touch with todays criminal activities to hack a financial institution while stuck in a traffic jam on the M4(or other motorway of you choice) laugh

Working to the logic of Toyota's GT86 ads being banned for apparently compelling viewers to drive too speedily, surely this ought be banned on basis of compelling viewers to knock over a bank or two?

To be fair you probably thought that before the advert.

I wouldn't mind internet access in the car, the screen on my smart phone is too small when beating one off.

Do I win a prize?

Must've been a typically taxing meeting in the ad agency's 'creative' dept:

"Right, we need to knock-out a promo for BMW - any films we haven't ripped-off lately?"

"The Dark Knight?"

"The Transporter?"

"Yes, nice, like your thinking! Sorted. Lunch?"
