Harris at the Revival: Time for (more) Tea?

Onboard in the Lister-Jaguar with Monkey. There's oversteer aplenty, natch

Apologies for the lack of a proper Harris vid so far this week. We hope to pair a very exciting car and Chris's inimitable style shortly. For now, and for possibly the first time ever on PH, here's a Chris Harris production without him talking (!).

It's some lovely onboard footage from Sunday's Revival TT race, with Chris in the Lister-Jaguar harrying (and eventually passing) the David Hart/Tom Coronel Cobra. Then a powerslide worthy of Kenny Brack undoes all the hard work and drops him behind again.

Next lap, same corner, same result. But Monkey keeps it clean and tidyish through the chicane and this time retains the lead. Then he's off, straight six howling, to lap a low-drag E-Type and a DB4, as you do at the Revival.

And yes, we know the Targa Florio vid has also been published this afternoon, but we wanted to get this video out before the whole world grabs it. We'll have Chris behind the wheel of something modern, and maybe even doing some talking, ASAP.

Absolutely brilliant. Just watched that transfixed. That 250 GTO looked a bit close near the end...

Glorious. Oh to be there, doing that.

Why does this remind me so much of Grand Prix Legends, that superlative, way head of its time PC game from the late 90's?

What are those two wires, one coiming from the L/H side of the transmission tunel to his seat belt and the other one that appears to come from the top of the windscreen frame also to his seat belt?

Excellent video, this type of racing is far preferable to F1 and Touring Cars

It's elastic straps pulling the harness aside for quick driver changes.

Great video,

Superb drive by Chris

It was a privilege to have been there and seen the race and both overtakes. You can see how close it was at the front from my photo in glorious 1960s black & white:

I'm sure not many people can say they've lapped 250 GTOs and LMs while fighting for the lead of a race!
I would like to see the onboard of the 4-wide restart too!!

Great video, and some quick reactions from Chris too. What struck me is how few gear changes there were per lap.

Brilliant drive.

I was there too. It was an epic race, so far no one has mentioned that Monkey passed Jean Alesi (yes, that one) earlier in the race, and he was driving a Ferrari 250 GTO/64. No mean feat in itself.

While its impossible not to marvel at the technology, and sheer speed of modern F1, if its pure adrenaline induced excitement, and the sheer craft of driving you are after, then look no further than things which are old, and try to kill you.

Cracking video Chris - lovely sounds coming from the Lister and a great battle with the Cobra. Loved the massive oversteer moments coming onto the main straight! smile
