Hey, thanks man!! smile

Project finally has some momentum again. She's off to the upholsterer next week. Hope to have ready early summer.

I must say it was intensely gratifying to see her burst to life. What a time to wait, 4 1/2 years since I last had a running engine in the car.

The engine bay is not done yet, BTW, I want to add a carbon air intake instead of the normal ugly hose and box (which restricts airflow as well).

Looks to be a great car - New paint? Jet or Moonraker black? What colour for the interior?

Keep us updated/pics etc

Paul.

The paint is a colour that I had I my head and then asked my paint specialist to develop, it is unique and not off-the-shelf. The idea was to have a black colour where the sun does not reflect, and wine red metallic where it does. The specialist suggested to use large gold flakes for the metallic, which was a great enhancement. Everyone comments on the colour, it really turned out well.

The interior will be black leather, charcoal alcantara, and bordeaux red. The heavily modified Tuscan seats are almost ready.

I started a thread on this project over here 4 years ago but there wasn't much interest so I abandoned it. It will be too much work to try and redo a thread on 4 years worth of work but there is an almost-up-to-date thread on the TVRCC website that I will update soon.

Just a quick list of some of the modifications/upgrades:

- Custom roll bars
- Intraxx suspension
- 5.2L engine by Austec Racing (so far dynoed at 340bhp but not yet set-up properly. I think 350 will be the number to go for).
- Custom designed carbon plenum + other carbon bits (airbox, airflow sensor etc)
- Custom seats using a Tuscan base
- Modified transmission tunnel
- Sagaris diff with modified drive shaft
- Two gel batteries in boot with custom designed circuit
- Redesigned dashboard layout with last generation Chimaera heater controls, Chimaera dashboard lights and other bits from other TVRs
- 4 seat harnasses
- Custom Personal wheel
- Mechanical boot release
- Upgraded headlights from SE
- Left foot fold-away foot rest
- Various Leven bits anodised to black and red
- Lots of engine improvements - additional heat shields, redirected hoses, pipes and other things to improve reliability and looks
- Aluminium radiator and modified two-stage fan circuit to ensure better cooling
- Custom designed roof strut mechanism to work with the roll bars
- Repainted gauges with anodised bevels
- Steel braided brake lines, fuel lines etc

and many more...

I will need to look it up. A previous owner put them on.

Looks like the ultimate high-spirited thoroughbred Griff development. A miners pot of gold! Superb and awesome. Suggest it HAS to have a TVR number plate and and in my opinion, a Walnut dash. Also perhaps, dare I say it, traction control and ABS. Like to see pics of the gold flaky, red wine, black body paint so admired by the many. Chatsworth 2014 a must!

Also, a very big must, the TVRCC Griff forum.

You surprise me, I thought this was one of the most interesting threads I have ever seen on the TVRCC website. Well worth a look...you will have no idea how much detail is in this superb car until you do.

They are Technomagnesio wheels 16"front, 17"rear with Toyo T1-S/R.

They are not the final colour yet, will a medium metallic grey.

Don't know if you read it somewhere or if it's coincidence, but I am a mining engineer, and I design (mostly) gold mines. The car features a little 24kt gold plating touches in the TVR logo on the nose and the Griffith 520 badge on the back. So a miner's pot of gold would be an apt and quite literal description.

TVR plate? It is a Dutch car and we don't have vanity plates.

Walnut dash - nah. I think it would look out of place on this car; I am trying to create something sporty.

Traction control and ABS? Never, it is a TVR.

Chatsworth 2014? I understand there is no such thing, it is now Burghley. But that's way too early for the car to be ready. You can, however, be assured that I will bring the car to a Griff meeting in the UK. This summer is not likely to be possible, but 2015 sounds like a great plan.

Yes, not sure why it wasn't popular here. But it was different on the TVRCC, so I did keep it going there and had fun doing it. I will update the thread there with more pics but I first need to sort out my dues - cannot access the site at the moment. :embarrassed:

Thanks. Not many aftermarket wheels suit the Griff (IMO) but they look great.

You need to get posting on the club site, as I'm nearly catching up on the watch count!! (griff back from the dead) with my rebuild.

Great pics and what dedication - have you considered gold coloured wheels ? (Looks great on dark green and black but your car is shouting out for them and it will 'lift/pick out' the gold from the paintwork beautifully....

I never like cars where the wheels take over the focus of attention. Gold wheels, therefore, are not for me. It should all be about the curves of the Griff bodywork. The wheels should not take your eyes away from that. Just my 2p.

Interested to know the reason for not starting first time? Also noted the 2 -4 second delay on eventual start. Mine does the same. Delay said to build up oil pressure. Hope your tyres are less than 6 years old. Pity to risk loosing it without TC and ABS! Smiles. My old Vista unable to make icons.

Tyres are from May 2008, almost no miles but will be replaced. Thanks for the tip, though. There were a couple of small things not quite rright yet, one of the cat sensors was not working properly for instance. Not quite sure about the inital non-start. It was fixed real quickly, however, forgot to ask what it was as i got distracted by the engine sound...
