Hi guys,
Been looking at doing the Granada 283mm front brake conversion as mine has the 240mm front brake discs. Came across these on eBay which seems a good price if it includes everything.

Has anyone else got these? Would they fit under the standard 15" wheels?

I could be wrong, but I think they're a bit too big. Standard is 240mm it think. 260 mm should fit ok.
Those seem a bit pricey too.

Pretty sure you'll need 16" rims to get those under if they're a 300mm disc ... the 15" big brake conversions tend to be the 278 or 283mm discs (with the 283mm discs often requiring a little filing of the calliper for clearance).

Does seem expensive, keep an eye out for cosworth callipers, they fit with 283mm discs and you can get the calipers pretty cheat off ebay, I got a set for £30 from a breaker.

I have the 283mm discs with Granada Cosworth callipers, it all fits nicely with the exception of disc caliper clearance as Bassfiend pointed out, the previous owner had turned the disc down to provide the clearance, I have relieved the caliper to take the 283mm disc so fitting new doesn't require any mods.
Ferodo DS pads(all round) make a big difference.

Mine is a 2000 model with 260mm front discs. (Not sure when they changed).

I don't think the size of the front brakes is really the issue, although it will increase stopping power, it's the lack of ABS. frown

Still, makes me concentrate. Having only driven cars with ABS for over 5 years, I didn't realise how reliant I'd be become in it. Not that I have it kick in that often, it's just that driving the TVR in wet conditions, I'm constantly on guard of people pulling out on me or slamming their anchors on because I HAVEN'T got it.

Bring on a warm spring day.

Edited to add: I see they also do a 280mm kit for £40 less.

I just find it a bit rear bias as I have had the rears lock first a couple of times in an emergency. As the rears are 260mm I just thought it made sense to increase the front size. Can anyone give feedback if the 284mm Granada upgrade sorts this issue out?

I went from the original 240mm discs to 278mm and they're great ... not sure whether the fronts locking up sooner is a good thing though as really you want the fronts to keep turning to retain steering under heavy braking.

I went from 240 to 283mm , on track it feels much less twitchy at the back under heavy braking

Whilst the WMS front brake upgrade is a fair bit more expensive than the ebay one in question, their 300mm version does fit under 15" rims, so some do. Personally though, dependent on your budget I would suggest looking for a pair of 16" rims for the front which then opens up a wider choice of decent brake upgrades. In my experience if the tyre specification & size (profile) is selected correctly the larger wheels do not noticeably upset the turn in. That all said it can be the start of the infamous "slippery slope" !

I know that they won't fit under the standard wheels (apparently they just squeeze under 16" on cossies though) but has anyone tried this combo on a tiv yet?

I've got them with Mintex M1144 pads, I don't know if they would fit under 16s though? It's there isn't a lot of room behind 17s
