Under the car today whilst it's off the road and on axle stands just checking out the chassis for rust and rectifying as I go when I noticed for the first time a blade fuse just above the main 100A fuse. It's a 25A fuse and I have no idea what it does? Also looks pretty open to the elements.

So, any ideas what it does and should it be better protected from the elements?

Thanks in advance smile

Sounds like that headlight hot start mod?

Thanks Spend, seems a bit open to the elements, might try and protect it somehow.

where do the wires go?.. if one end goes to the starter motor and the other to the rad fans... is it some 2 stage fan switch supply?

This would be my opinion too. I have two fuses in line with my 2 stage fan mod. One by the fans and the other close to the starter. If something goes wrong I hope the fuse nearest the fans blows but sods law it'll be the awkward starter fuse that goes first frown

If it's not for a fan modification it could be for this. David Beers 'Brighter Lights' kit has a fuse in an open holder and draws its current from the starter motor live terminal. The kit allows the lights to draw current via a relay rather than directly from the dash switch. If you have got this kit you will find the relay behind the headlight cover in the wheelarch.

Thanks for your thoughts chaps, just had a look under the car and can't trace where the wires go to. Think it's time to pull the fuse and see what doesn't work!

If its the 2 stage fan it'll still work without the fuse fitted. On mine it only increases the full fan speed a little as there isn't so much power loss.
