Monaro VXR Free ‘Dead’ Key Fix by Wyld Stallyn

First Get BOTH Keys

Open Doors By Remote with Good Key

Put Good Key in Ignition and Turn so the Dash Displays are On (Vx or HSV Appears)

Wait For 15 Seconds

Switch Off & Remove Good Key

Put Dead Key in and Turn so the Dash Displays are On (Vx or HSV Appears)

Wait For 15 Seconds or so and Then Start The Engine (Grin biggrin and Enjoy the Burble cool).

Leave The Engine to Warm Up for 5 Mins

Switch Off Engine

Get Out TAKING BOTH KEYS WITH YOU

Lock The Car with the Now NOT DEAD Key

And Please DO Take BOTH Keys with you to start with just in case the Mythical Recharging Ignition Key Theory is Correct whistle wink

Wouldn't want anyone to get Stranded on my Account

Grin Lots More biggrinbiggrinbiggrin

So the fix for a Dead key is to use a Good key? That's sharp thinking

I Think it has somet to do with the car and not often or unused key getting out of sync. Would recommend using the 'spare' every now and then.

Just Checked UnDeaded Key on my Way Back in From the Pub - Still Works cool

IF it was Just a Flat Battery in the Key, No Way Would it have (after only 5 mins) Recharged Enough to Hold Charge for this long.

It's A Sync Issue - So Keep those 'Spare' keys Handy and Do Use em so they don't get get outta Sync and 'Dead'

If th efob is anything like the VXR8's it comes apart easily. Replacement batteries are cheap from eBay or local Maplins or a market. I guess less than a quid.

So, a replacement will ensure it is a good battery for the remote funtionality. When you open the fob up, it is probably advisable to check the connections are clean and the holder still soldered in place (the Astra I recently got required the battery holder to be re-soldered as it was held in place with a bit of card. A common problem on these apparently). At least that will ensure that is not the problem.

Hope that helps.
