Hi all,

any auto electricians on here? The central locking solenoids on my Citroen Saxo are constantly cycling (up, down, up, down...) I've removed the system fuse for now to save the car battery.

Why has it started doing this?

I did notice the passenger door catch assy was very sticky (thought the solenoid might be struggling with it) so removed it and soaked it in PlusGas, now it's good as new but the cycling problem remains.

The keyfob has very recently had a new battery and has worked since replacement but now the car will not respond to it at all? (All standard equipment). I've tried to reinitialise it going by the AutoData instruction of manually unlocking the passenger door then pushing the lock button on the fob twice but nothing?

The alarm goes off every time I open the door and continues until the ignition key is recognised 10 seconds after being inserted.

do the same with the drivers door and see if it improves, usually down to moisture or poor contacts in actuator microswitches

But surely if all the locks are cycling up and down they must all be connected and moving correctly?

Dont even think about solving a keyfob problem until you have found and fixed the CLS fault
You will find the CLS fault by using a process of elimination
Disconnect all CLS electrics (Motor/Solenoid plus any Microswitches on the door catch and handle)of one door and test the other door and boot to see if all is now ok, if the fault is still on the vehicle, reconnect the door you have just disconnected and carry out the same test again by disconnecting the other door, if the fault is still on the vehicle, reconnect the door you have just disconnected and move on to the tailgate using the same method as above
If you still have the fault after the above testing post back here

Might be of no relevance/use but problems with the central locking refusing to stay locked & bouncing back every time you try to lock it can be caused by broken wires in the connector from the A-pillar into the driver's door.
Had this with 2 of our Peugeot 306s so i thought I'd cure it with one from a scrappie. First 3 I looked at all had broken wires so fitted the repair section which was available from Peugeot.
I now know it to be a common issue on the 306 & its usually several wires broken so there is the possibility of a short circuit.

Thanks for the replies all. In the end I found it to be a combination of things;

Sticky tailgate lock cylinder and corroded connectors in the drivers door multiplug.

Hope this helps anyone with similar problems.
