Matchbox 1:72 Victor K2 (rebuild!)
Discussion
I picked this book up at Newark Air Museum on Friday:
One of the builds is the old Matchbox Victor, and it looked totally awesome. I rememberd building one back in about '83 - it was the first model I sprayed with an airbrush. Sure enough I went in the loft at my Mum's house and there it was, hanging next to the chimney, covered in a thick layer of dust and with a deceased family of moths in one of the intakes. It's now safely re-housed in my garage:
Obviously, it's crap, but I've decided to strip it, improve it a bit, and then repaint it properly. It will end up in my son's bedroom, maybe refuelling his Tornado via. the pitot tube!
It'll need a new set of decals (maybe Flightpath), and a shed load of filler. I'm hoping Revell will sell me a new set of stencil decals from their reboxing - I don't think the aftermarket sets include them.
I was fairly happy with the old Matchbox 1:32 Spitfire and AT-AT I rebuilt previously, so hopefully this will have a happy ending too.

I have two, both not finished and currently stored. One i was converting to a blue steel using left over Vulcan parts. Going for the V bomber range
Out of the four i only finished one. I like scratch building parts but get carried away. plan it to finish them when i move and have a man cave.
That Vulcan looks good, shame the others have stalled - they would look impressive together.Out of the four i only finished one. I like scratch building parts but get carried away. plan it to finish them when i move and have a man cave.
No real room to do them properly, let alone airbrushing them or to display them. But they will be finished at some point.
I've used some of the flightpath stuff on the vulcan and is good, they were very helpful when i wanted 35 1000lbs bombs. Perhaps using the intakes that are available?

I saw the Flightpath detail set with the new intakes for the Victor, they look very nice. For this one though I'll just get some new decals (Euro Decals look like the best - they include all the stencils) and perhaps a Master Model NATO refuelling valve and see how it looks. There's a limit to what can be done economically with a badly built model like mine, but I'd like to revive it a bit.I've used some of the flightpath stuff on the vulcan and is good, they were very helpful when i wanted 35 1000lbs bombs. I'll start breaking it up next week and see what's what.
