I took out the front seats of my Monaro to see if I could fix the fore and aft movement I get when the car brakes or accelerates.
I spent ages trying to find any slack in the seat rails, but everything was tight.
The drivers side is a little worse but again I checked everything and nothing seemed loose.
Is the problem in the electric motors?
I can't believe it's wear and tear as the seats aren't moved that much anyway!

On a different note,a few months ago my brother bought low millage a Jaguar XKR, its his pride and joy. last week he spent all day cleaning it and getting it just right!
Surprise Surprise!!! when he went to put it back in the garage, some poor soul, who needs even more state hand outs had keyed the whole length of the car, some of the damage was right down to the metal...what a fine country we live in!

Hi John,

It doesn't happen often but I sometimes get the drivers seat moving forward under braking. I believe the only cure is new seat rails / runners as the "slack" can't be fixed - I might be talking complete tosh so probably better to wait until someone knows what they are talking about comes along. FWIW it's on my long term mod list to change my seats over to Cobra Misano's like Sturdy has, trouble is I think he reused his runners so if I'm right it won't fix the seat movement problem confused

Don't assume that it was low-life scum. Sometimes it can be a neighbour that your brother has unintentionally ticked off.

Nick (ferret) has a copy of the printout as to how to stop this happening I believe, I think I had a copy of it once, but wouldn't know where it was anymore.

I did re-use the existing rails, although may revisit this in the future, I'm undecided. I don't recall having the braking movement problem, and don't experience it now either, so not much input on topic, sorry!

iirc to stop the seats moving there is a washer that you need to replace with a thicker one. Mine do it and i looked for a solution and found that on another site. ill see if i can find it again.

How's the Misano's working out James? Need to get a test fit in yours as a really fancy of pair. Can you use a 4 point harness with your seats if you wanted?

Thanks EmmaJ, I must show that scene from Pulp Fiction to my brother!
In reality he is a gentle giant, but when he saw the state of his car, he would have torn that low life a new one.......or even three or four!!!!

Back to the seat again, the photograph shown is from the earlier design. The VZ seats are totally different. I cant find a fix for this problem anywhere. However I will keep trying...just in case.

Emma, they're awesome, although as you have coilovers (I presume?) you're going to have a HARD ride. You definitely need to test fit mine yes, you coming to the V8UK Full Power Launch event in April? Lots of people jumping in and out of it last year , it's a proper slag my car hehe
