This is my Toyota Mr2 Turbo Rev 3 that I have had from last September .

The spec of the car is below with a little progress log .

80000 miles
HKS exhaust
HKS re cir blow off valve
new clutch
new cam belt
all 4 new Falken ZIEXZE912 tyres
Stage 2 reconditioned turbo with 360 bearings and cut back exhaust blades
Power run and checked at surrey rolling road 288 bhp at 0.9 bar boost.

Some pic of when I picked it up .

and one of the graphs

Just enjoyed it for a bit with some cleaning the only update .

Next up was upgrading the intercooler and fan for a larger unit .

Then for some strut braces .

Then in Feb this year it had another go on the R/R to check everything is ok .

That is how we are for now and next will be to up the boost to 1.2 BAR and then start on the suspension upgrades .

Regards

Alan

Great car. Some GT seats would finish it off nicely.

Strange, I never died when I had my Rev 3 Turbo, nor did it ruin me financially. It was 17 years old and I drove the doors off it most days of the week!

Utter p15h!!!

I've owned 4 MR2's. 1 x 2L NA G-limited, 1 x BEAMS red-top, and 2 x rev3/4 turbos.
I still own two of them. One is a fully prepared track car that I've owned for 5.5 years and have driven seriously hard at times, and it FINALLY blew a piston in September while on track (out for about 1hr solid, nailing it).

None of my MR2's have tried to kill me.
None of my MR2's have financially ruined me.

Please tell me how you know my friends situations better than i do ? If you cant shut the fk up , as for anyone else read what i said .

I didnt say the internet told me this ,im going off me being in the car and them probably not having the driving skills of the stig .Everyone finances is different and i know for a fact they both had to do a lot of overtime to keep the things on the road .

Pistonheads doesn't amaze me anymore , i praised the guys car and even said id love to own one then the keyboard warrriors come out in force .

Internet bullst at its finest eh. My Rev3 was the most stable and planted performance car that i've owned, and it was the only car that never required any repair work. The only car I regret selling, sold within 24 hours of going online (top end money too) should have told me something.

Interesting handling in the wet, certainly in the earlier cars anyway. Why toyota never officially imported when it didn't compete with any of thier other range baffles me, it would have had a cult following like a cosworth if they had. Massive fun to drive, with that turbo whistling just behind you, and a cracking gearbox as well.

They're not death traps. Don't talk rubbish. Cheap to run and very reliable too.

Just to confirm its not a death trap and is fine unless you do not respect it and floor it mid corner .

Had a rev 3 turbo ran it at 1.2bar for 2 years never had problems. Would guess it was 300bhp it pulled really well for a 18year old car.

I had to change a few handbrake cables for mot but apart from servicing it never let me down, enjoy

Nice car OP. I had one about 15 year ago when the import thing was just kicking off. Nobody knew what they were which meant great fun chasing or beating the usual fast cars of the day.

If you need any parts get in touch with my mate Chris at GTSChris.com.

Regards to handling, it's not a myth that they can catch you out. I had several near misses and even my mate Chris who has built 2 race cars to race and advertise the business, has given up and races a Subaru.

They are fine at 8/10s and under but once you reach the limits they are not that predictable or controllable.
The guy mentioning his missus driving one doesn't mean much, my wife used to drive my M3 to work but she'll happily admit she's not the best driver. Like I say under normal driving most cars are pussy cats, it's at the limits when things get trickier and MR2s most certainly bite.

I agree with the last post
Overall excellent cars and extremely reliable. They are very sensitive to tyres, suspension condition and geometry
I've owned two rev 3s and driven 5 or 6 in total and every one felt different and none of them gave me the confidence to push the limits. Definitely an 8/10ths car unless on track. On paper they seem perfect but they just don't quite do it handling wise. Great to be in, fast and tuneable. A performance bargain but not a patch on the mk3 handling wise. Funnily enough I do miss mine a bit!

I have not pushed it and don't think I will in the corners to its limits .

The grip is good with the std 225 rear tyres but im thinking when it lets go it would be interesting smile

What I think works best is if you are on light throttle in / mid corner not having the turbo coming in to play to overwhelm the balance / tyres .
