Hello all again,

I am wanting to upgrade my engine but only slightly. I was thinking to about 135bhp. I have been looking at various upgrades. DVAPower seem a through outfit and know what they are doing. Can you still get the Lotus stage 2 upgrade. Again any thoughts and comments appreciated. With this power upgrade would it be necessary to upgrade the standard breaks?

The Lotus 160bhp S1s had the same brakes as the base car. They were all iron discs though, so I don't know if there is a limit on early S1 with the aluminium discs.

Speak to Roger at Sabreheads, he can get you up to 140 odd bhp with the KR1 upgrade.

I've the Raceline 160 conversion on the original MMC brakes; 78k miles and no issues.

Does anyone know the approximate cost of the KR1 head? Might have a tinker with mine later this year.

Is it still possible for lotus dealers to do the 135 upgrade on the standard 118 k series? Or am I about 15 years too late...

The game has moved on from the 135 set up. Generally accepted a DVA or Sabre head with plastic intake will give a nice driveable uplift to 140 - 145 bhp for about £1k or fit cams and an emerald ecu for another £1.2k and 155 -160 bhp.
