996 hasn't even slightly blown up shocker! ;)

Just thought I'd put something positive on here for a change.
My enjoyment of the car was starting to wane a bit, and paranoia set, in after all the stories of engine failure here on PH.
Happily though I've just had a cracking drive on the twisty bits and remembered what a great car it is, helped certainly by some fettling yesterday by those very nice people at Nine Excellence and Ken's advice to just enjoy it and stop worrying.
Of course now I've tempted fate I'll be expecting trouble with my RBS, shafting of my bores and scoring of my intermediate whatsernames!

Lovely - yes just had a great drive in mine today as well - aided by brand new MSS rubber - they are such awesome cars to drive!!My enjoyment of the car was starting to wane a bit, and paranoia set, in after all the stories of engine failure here on PH.

Looks pretty much identical to mine- perhaps the black 2002s were the best!
To add to the positivity here - there are so many different flavours of 911 over the last 50 years but there is simply not one of them that I wouldn't like to own and drive.
I know that there is fierce debate over what is better and what drives better - but if you took out any 911 on a nice road in the dry on a decent sunny morning I guarantee you every single one would put a smile on your face and isn't that what its all about at the end of the day?
They are all that good - and one of the main reasons why Porsche exists as it does today.

Mine back in 2010.
Sold it when the warranty ran out on the replacement engine that cost me ten grand... As you can see, an abused and neglected example!

It seems like most of the horror stories have happened at relatively low mileage. My indy feels that most of the failures have already happened hopefully, so those of us with slightly more leggy cars (mine has done 72k) can maybe relax a bit??
So let's hear from some more high mileage owners to cheer ourselves up.

My black 3.4 C2's going great at 109k, looked after by Sports & Classic for about 6-7 years.
It did need the IMS bearing replacing at 85-90k though - luckily was caught when it was noisy (could only be heard from underneath when running on a ramp, hence most never get noticed before it's too late).
