The wait is over as the chassis arrived this morning. Can't wait to get started.

Not sure why but I assumed the luggage containers were part of the new chassis. I was a little surprised that the luggage containers weren't already attached. Oh well no problem. Guess its a call to the factory to order the containers.

Did you get the alloy panels with the chassis? If so don't rush, take your time. Mesure twice and cut once ad the saying goes.

Yes got the alloy panels. I've been collecting cereal boxes for over 3 months for templates.

There's plenty that fits to the chassis behind the luggage containers so no rush.

Enjoy

i thought that the new chassis had the lugage boxes installed as part of the welding as a way of making it stiffer?

Just been back and looked at the chassis in the 'new factory Parts' thread. It is claiming the luggage pods are now structural but they appear to still be ali so will not be welded in.

Response from factory...

No the new style luggage containers aren't welded to the chassis and don't come included with the new style uprated chassis. They cost £160 plus VAT.

They are still riveted onto the chassis later on in the build process (refer to the build CD for build sequence). The new style luggage containers are now manufactured from a higher grade of aluminium with increased wall thickness and increased length
