For those of you that have driven both, can you please describe how different they are, which would you choose and why? I'm interested in knowing how jarring a ride is with the sport suspension. I'm no racing driver. However, while the standard suspension on my 07 feels OK but sometimes I feel like it leans too much on turns yet it feels rough over bumps. Sort of the worst of both worlds really. Wondering if the newer suspensions are any better.

That's a tough straight-up vote because the exact suspension set-up has varied from model to model and year to year.

It also depends on your purpose. For a every-day street car, after trying both, I went with the standard suspension on my 09 Vantage and am very happy with it.

Agree about purpose, I bought mine as a sports car I'd only use when I want to drive enthusiastically. And I live in an area with fairly quiet good roads leading to very quiet great roads so I can make the most of it smile

Newer models with adaptive dampers solve the problem for you ;-)

That's only on the V12VS
Worth noting roadster suspension differs from coupes
I voted sport as it suits the usage of my car the majority of the time
It can be a bit stiff on really bad roads but that doesn't bother me enough to change it

And the vanquish… Sure I read somewhere that someone will also fit as an after market mod as well.

Bamford Rose supply and fit an Electro Magnetic switchable system which is truly brilliant. Plus it can be tailored to suit your exact requirements . smile

Let's try to stay off the "BR offers this or that" or the selectable suspension discussion because neither of those is really an option for me. The question is simple: if you were buying a new Vantage, drive on mostly smooth American roads, but aren't really a "sporting driver" 95% most of the time, would you choose Sport or Comfort?

I will say that I'm leaning towards Comfort, but I'm curious if the Sport suspension is "comfortable" enough to use without being annoying.

Karl,

You seem to be pretty friendly with your local AM dealer. Would it be possible to ask for a test drive in a sports suspension V8V in order to compare it against your comfort suspension?

Do you have smooth well maintained road surfaces? Unfortunately here many roads are now in a poor condition, so standard suspension probably helps.

The new db9 and rapide s have them as we'll. love setting mine to track when alone. The family prefer normal setting.

sport would be fine on these roads.

it would be taut, sporty and firm, but not crashy. it would be comfortable too.

and it will corner on with less roll, and ride with less body movement and damper indecision.

to be sure, you would need to try both.

Have you bought one now?

I voted Sport, although I've not actually driven a std car. I'm used to reasonably stiff suspension cars and found the Sport option (V8V) to be just about right on our poorly surfaced UK roads, I would imagine the std car to be too soft for my liking.

Aston offer both because it is truly a personal preference. I chose comfort because mine is not a track car and I found the sport suspension harsh to the point of uncomfortable. Had the comfort not been available I would not have bought the car.

Much the same for me. I just upgraded from a 2005 car, which I loved overall but struggled to enjoy all the time due to its harsh ride on South Yorkshire's poorly maintained roads, to a 2009 model with standard much plusher suspension. For the few times I need the car to push its handling limits, hard ride just isn't worth the loss of comfort for me, so I deliberately chose a car with standard suspension rather than sports pack.
The 09 car is a delight to drive in real daily conditions compared to the early car.

FWIW, I wound up choosing the comfort suspension. Thanks for all the different views.

Worth saying again for clarity wink
Convertibles with sports suspension are softer than coupes
