Indicator issue

I currently have an indicator issue on my 07 V8V.

When indicating left the indicator flashes and 'ticks' as regular speed, however as soon as I touch either the indicator or the brake it starts running at double speed and I get a 'bulb fault warning message'.

Anyone had any simillar issues or ideas on this?

Common issue with a dodgy or failed indicator bulb on most cars
Stick the hazards on and go round and check them all

Sorry, should have mentioned - all bulbs seem to be working.

Have you checked the rear lights with both the brakes and indicator on? Would suspect a short in the rear light unit.

I got my dad to take a look and he said it was all still working - i'll check it all again.

If it is a problem with the unit I assume it's a dealer job?
