VW Golf Mk7 rear suspension noise
Discussion
Wondered if any member has had experience of a dull thud / bobbling noise from rear of car when going over sharp ridges and bumps?
According to my supplying dealer, VW are aware of the problem but have yet to come up with a fix. This is very frustrating and not what I would have expected from VW as it seems the fault was brought to their attention about 8 months ago.

I've had a similar problem on the front of my MK7. Sounds similar. Does it only happen at lows speeds (less than 30mph?).
They weren't sure if was dampers, or just the bearings.
In the end, it was the latter and all sorted under warranty. Told this is a very common fault with Golfs whihc they can fix.
Nut sure if this is the same as me, just on the rear though?

The model is 1.4 TSI (140)GT. It has the sports suspension. I've looked on other forums and the problem does seem to affect this model more than any other. The noise can be heard at any speed. V frustrating as VW doesnt seem to be in too much of a rush to sort things out. Thanks for your posts.
When I went to one dealer, he didn't have a clue what I was talking about.
When I tried a second dealer, immediately told me what he thought the problem would before even looking at it as they'd had 3 or 4 similar cases. They said it's most common on the GT trim like yours bandit. Mine is a GTD, and they said that was the first they had heard about it being on one of those.
My advice would just be try another dealer and see if you have any better luck with them.
