Morning all, just a quick question.
Went to take car out of the garage this morning and had a totally flat battery???
Got a new phone and deleted all the old ones off the bluetooth menu and paired the new one, has the bluetooth stayed on over night and killed the battery?
Just wondering if anybody has had this happen?

Cheers Dixie.

No. On the car it shuts down bluetooth once the ignition is off / key removed. Even if the ignition is left on after ~15 minutes the car sees a drain on the battery, beeps at you, puts a warning on the dash and shuts down Infotainment system - including Bluetooth.

As the guys have said it is probably just coincidence that you were playing with the Bluetooth when the battery went flat as they do tend to just fall over with little warning and it is a known weak spot. There was a high quiescent drain issue linked to Bluetooth on 08MY cars, although cars affected should have been rectified during service.
Best to always use a trickle charger, but get your battery checked to see it is holding good charge otherwise you will start getting lots of issues! wink

Or even take the novel approach of actually driving the car regularly rolleyes

Hi guys, thanks for replys, the battery is less than a year old ( could be a duff one) and car is used almost every day.
Just seems strange that it happened after playing with the phone, will investigate later on and report back.

cheers

Morning all, just a quick update, put car on a trickle charge for 12 hours then tried her, started no problem and no lights on the dash.
Did not use her until yesterday started first time, radio still had stored channels and windows still had the memory.
So outcome is not a clue what caused the flat battery.

If the car is used daily on short runs the battery can gradually be depleted until it falls over the edge.

yes maybe, drive to work is 7 miles each way and she does get a good blast but as said before the battery is less than 12 months old so shouldn't be a problem.
Just wait and see what develops.

It takes a 30 mile drive to charge a flat DB9/V8V battery. A Battery Conditioner will solve the problem.
