how many here read the dealer magazines?
Discussion
Got a call from someone selling advertising space in the Bentley mag for the dealership in Hertfordshire or the Leeds one. I explained that I would prefer am Aston one, but they only look after Bentley and rolls.
So the question is, is it worth doing or do you guys never really look at them? Think it's about £700 for a page.

Page advertising is very expensive and it's tough to know which publications to advertise in.
Might be worth looking at Vantage magazine as I think Astons are your niche? But what are its circulation numbers, and how many buyers of that publication are already on here anyway? I'd have thought word of mouth and client recommendations are the way to go for your particular business, as they are basically free.
I don't know much about AMOC, but a quick viewing of their website show they take banner ads. How much do they cost?
A simple play on 'Best Aston Martin Detailer in the Country' ad linked to your website could be interesting. Tweak your site a bit to major on Astons, some recent client endorsements and off you go.......
There's loads of people on here who'd say things like 'Francis made my car go all shiny and it's great.' Although in a more eloquent manner of course.
Another idea is see if AMOC will interview you for their newsletter, sort of an infomercial type of thing.
Good luck.

To be honest, i don't advertise anywhere and never have done, its just that i got asked if i wanted to and wanted to know what you lot thought about it. Theres not much point in doing any advertising to you guys, as you all know what i do anyway haha.
Actually, I don'think I really know what you do. I read somewhere it has something to do with gazebos?I advertise my Ladyboys in Bling Boy magazine and find it works well for me.
Like you I get plenty of referrals from satisfied customers,Michael Gould and Tosser Tony always recommend me to their friends, being very satisfied punters, although their demands are quite strange my Ladyboys always accommodate.
Maybe we could do a combined ad and share the cost, headline banner might read,
"Ladyboy Special" .......whilst pampering your body with our fabulous Ladyboys, pamper your Aston with Paddy the Detail Wizard. Special discount if you feed him cake.
Can't guarantee you'll get a result but it sounds good to me.

AM News has quite a bit of advertising in it (full and half page A5, colour or mono). The likes of Stratton, Oselli, Nicholas Mee, McGurks, AM Works, etc as well as quite a few smaller engineering specialists can be found in the current issue, although I haven't spotted anyone offering the same services as you. If you were going to advertise, I can think of worse places to try.... No idea of price though so you'd need to enquire via ns@amoc.org.
I think adverts are a slow burn, long term thing. IMHO, if you wish to advertise, then you need to have a simple advert with few words over a picture of a nice shiny car. Nothing will come from it directly. Nothing for a year. Or two. But eventually the name will be subconsciously registered with the viewers (few read adverts). Then when someone wants a service you can provide, you may be first on their list.
Emphasis on the someone, may, etc.
Best advertisement would be an advertorial, providing (perversely) it is not too overt in its plug.
Best money-on-return is keep at what you're doing and build on reputation through word-of-mouth.
Unless it's free
All IMHO of course.
ETA: you could jump on the Concours bandwagon - bag yourself a winner.
