Saw a Vanquish in London yesterday in that colour. Looked fantastic.
So is the gearbox as bad as all the car reviews said, or is it just a case of learning how to use it properly?
I find the gearbox perfectly fine. It provides far better up and down shifts than I can muster with the stick in my DBS, especially downshifts, which are not at all easy since the pedal set up and engine response are not conducive to rev matching. So is the gearbox as bad as all the car reviews said, or is it just a case of learning how to use it properly?
If you use it as the manual it is, remembering to lift slightly on upshifts, then it behaves as it should. If you think it is an automatic and drive it that way, then of course it isn't as good as a real TC equipped trans.
I find it entertaining, since at least you have some interaction as opposed to a DCT, which for all practical purposes might as well be a TC automatic for all the involvement it provides. With the SSM, it feels like a manual, so all praise from me!
lovely car but then again i might well say that. if you are free 5th october you can join the other 20 of us in them.
there was an issue with the early gearboxes and very well known but good news is there is a cure and once done seems to stay done. i love the paddles in it and as said, once you master the oddities and drive it like a manual, it works very well.

Trans has been fully upgraded with 'kit', so I imagine that's all it needed.
