Having done the Brembo brake upgrade I find my 16" TD wheels no longer fit even though my 16" estorils with the same ET do!! Anyways I need to get some track wheels and I don't want to buy some cheap imports that may not be up to the job.
Any recommendations on make/model for the griff? Some pics would also be nice on a griff or chim.
Thanks

My 3 pce Image wheels are at Alex's. 17x10" and 17x8.5"

Chilli has first dibs on his return from the high seas.......

I use the RL7 5 stud for track , 18x9" and 17x8", not too heavy and seem very strong.

Can"t help with your question I"m afraid.

What 16" wheels are you using on TDs? Thinking about a spare set of wheels at the moment.

Cheers

I got given a set of 16" spiders for the Tamora they were a bit rough but they've been powder coated black and look brand new. I'm just waiting to hear about a set of nearly new slicks for them

Ok, currently thinking:

Image BRM
Team Dynamics Pro Race 3
Lenso D1-R

Not too worried about peoples views on if they will suit but interested in peoples knowledge of the manufacturers to make sure I am not buying a crap brand. Any views/experience? PM me if necessary please.
Thanks

As you have found choosing wheels that fit is the important bit, and yes even those with the same offset might not depending on the shape and position of the spokes to the rim,and closeness to the brembo's, I think you need to trial fit whatever you choose on looks before purchase.

Absolutely - two sets same size and ET one fits the other doesn't! Its the rim inside the spokes that fouls the Brembos so when I go shopping it will be on a try them on basis, though I will be going 17" all round this time so hopefully that extra inch will make all the difference, ooh er!

It does indeed, even with 17 fitted its pretty close to the rim on mine, and despite what Alex keeps saying, if you need spacers to allow 16 inch rims to fit....then they don't fit at all.

Can we just clarify please?

I remember you arriving at Bedford Autognome with a new set of Toyo R888s on the car.
Are they your current TD tyres, and are they on 16 inch rims?
Are you therefore looking to buy some more 16 inch wheels with as much clearance as your Estorils?

Or are you thinking of selling the tyres and going to 17 inch wheels and tyres?

Hi Anthony,

I have a set of r888s but have never fitted them as the 16 inch wheels I bought would not clear the brembo's. I would prefer 16 inch wheels with as much clearance as estorils, or even another set of 16 inch estorils but finding them is another matter. Until I get a solution I will switch the r888 with my t1-r's if I do a track day.
Current thinking is new 17 inch wheels but I won't buy them until I have had another chat with you!

So the question is:

Are team dynamics, image and lenso well made wheels?

I only know about Team Dynamics, the prorace 1.2s are similar to Silverstone SP 12s, which I have in 17 and 18 inch sizes. I love some of the Lesno designs, but don't know anything about them

Peter, (phazed) has image wheels which are well made I believe, the Team dynamics are also OK, no experience with lenso., but I like some of their designs.

Image wheels are top quality, not cheap though.

Don't forget these are lightweight wheels and don't take to kerbing!

Anthony, when you were following me driving Ian's car, it definitely had road tyres.it was a truly enjoyable experience keeping it on the track and trying to keep in front of you! smilesmile
