Have moved from a keyless go X5 to a Cayenne. If you started the X5 with a key and then moved the key away from the car a warning would pop up on the dash saying something on the lines of "no key detected in vehicle" but this warning does not happen in the Cayenne. I was supposed to be going somewhere the other day (to grab bread and milk) and the mrs came up to me and said that she would go instead - she sat in the car and drove off and the key remained in my pocket. It's only when she reached her destination that she found out she had no key! I find it really weird that the car does not warn you that there is no key present!? The car is a 2011 - does a later firmware update amend this?

Just pull out the plastic dummy key and that way you will always need the key to start the car wink

Did the trick - many thanks! Still weird that there is no warning when the key is not in the car

Earlier cars give a 'key not present ' warning.
