Does anyone have experience of breaking an Audi corporate lease ? I'm less than a month into ownership of a new company car A6 and find it doesn't match my needs, my dealer says "you can't break the lease". So what happens if I die / quit the company etc ???

What size is your company? This is a matter for your fleet manager. If your's is a biggish company perhaps you could swop with a colleague?
If you die / quit then that's your company's problem - they would be expected to re-allocate the car. If you had a free choice and chose the A6 then that's (probably) your problem.

What's the problem with the car? Was it mis-represented in any way so that you were led to believe that it would meet your needs?

Complicated. Small outfit and unfortunately I'm the boss but not the guy who signs the contracts. No misrepresentation as such, I acquired it "sight unseen" as the numbers jived and the nearest they had to it in the showroom seemed fine. After less than 1,000 miles the list of "don't likes" just keeps growing, about the best bit of it is the stereo (by daylight, when I can figure how to use the darned thing), after owning 40+ cars over the years I just got lazy on this one and didn't do an adequate job before agreeing to take delivery. So, looks like its just my fault, roll on end-07.

You might as well try to get out of Hell.
If you really want to do it, I'd get a hold of a leasing expert and see if he can deal you out of it.
I'm surprised you don't like the car though; the A6 is a stunning motor, and beautifully equipped.
What's the problem with it?

Some of these are car-related, some are just "me": Noisy at start (inside and out), vibration intrusive at around-town speeds; Too much power assisted steering at slow speeds; Brakes far too assisted; Gearbox (2nd/3rd) not smooth enough; Don’t like “depress clutch before starting” and delayed-action starting; Can't just manoeuvre car around drive or carpark without seatbelt fastened; Not enough room for foot by clutch pedal; Don’t like electro-mechanical handbrake (doesn’t like releasing when starting in reverse); Has stalled twice pulling away at junctions – hazardous re-starting in traffic; No “feel” – ride is slightly harsh, handling is bland; Slid on slight icy surface at c.10mph; MMI difficult to use / impossible in the dark; CD player buried in glovebox; Strange behaviour: random systems check, “Passenger airbag on”, 40mph speed warning; Don’t like red displays - instruments can’t be dimmed sufficiently; Stray reflections in driver’s side mirror; Seats not very comfortable - cushions can’t be adjusted to give thigh support; Doors too heavy – swing shut/open; Don’t like balance of boot lid; Boot can’t be opened while engine is running; Boot is so large that everything slides, impractical to access (get wet/dirty over boot lip); Crackling on at least 2 speakers; No rear-wiper, rear screen slow to defrost; Can’t figure how to adjust “follow home” lights; 400 page Manual !!

Wow - you really don't it, do you? What model is it?
I do sympathise, I'm in the process of opting out (after years of wanting to) and I just *can't* decide what to get. It's getting annoying now.

It must be possible to cancel the lease but it would cost a fortune. Maybe your company would 'contribute'?

It's a new shape A6 2.0 tdi with the ugly grille (ooops, forgot to mention that !), the lease deal (which was apparently 'being supported by Audi', wonder why ???) resulted in a good price for what is objectively "a lot of car", trouble is after 40 years of car driving this is my first diesel and my first Audi, guess I just got lazy and really should have done more "due dilligence" and lived with the car for 48 hours before agreeing to it. Next time I'm "opting out", I'll make my own arrangements as I have previously and take a LOT more time over choice of vehicle.

Well Peter,
I am really sorry you don't like the car, but I have to say I have never met anyone who found as many faults with a new Audi; although I suspect the main problem is that it is a diesel.
I have never understood the nonsense that surrounds running diesels in this country; it's more expensive than petrol!!
If you want to e-mail me I'll put you in touch with my son who is the Audi Advocate in Glasgow; I strongly suggest you take his advice on what to do.
At the risk of sounding like a smart ass, for God's sake road test the next car you buy thouroughly before agreeing to it, otherwise it can literally cost you thousands to get out of.

An Audi salesman who's been properly trained in all things Audi in Germany basically, and specialises in the S and Quattro models.
I know he's been properly trained as a motor engineer, coz I trained him!
So he can talk to anyone on a technical level and advise them as to the right kind of car.
I don't know how many people fancy cars that are totally unsuitable for them. Y'know, they want to buy a TT and they've got two kids and a great dane!
What they need at least is an A4 Avante.
