Guys

I am currently running 16" Estorils all round on my Grif and have nearly new Toyo T1Rs. I also have a set of nearly new 888's in the same sizes to go on some track day wheels that I am yet to source. I want some TD wheels but want to make sure they match my estorils for sizes so I don't have to worry about different geo set ups etc

I can buy some new wheels in the same set up as the estorils and make use of the 888's I already have but I am worried about replacing the tyres on 16" in the future - am I likely to be severely restricted in tyre choice? If so am I better off biting the bullet now and moving to 17"/5 stud for road and TD? Are the choices in 17" tyres significantly better than 16"?

Any thoughts welcome!!

Several years ago, I saw the pattern you seem to be implying. Manufacturers are producing fewer high performance tyre choices, in the smaller diameters. I believe this trend will continue.

My solution was to move directly to 18" diameter wheels.

I sold my Estorils, which paid for my 5 stud conversion and fitted TVR Le Mans wheels, not unlike the Estorils if you squint.I now have the option of going 17/18 inch later if 16 inch become hard to source
