The snowflake light in the middle of the dash. It lights up to warn you that a festive period is approaching smile

Pre-rebuild mine was permanently red, when I finally assemble it I'll have a working icicle for the first time in my ownership!

Simple things!

Hi Boatboy,

Mine is permenantly red also, is there a simple fix for this, its never really bothered me but i could put it on my list of 'things to do over the winter'........... Which will probably sit with my other lists of 'things to do over the summer' .... But all these things need planing !

Regards, Simon.

RS-AJP displays the outside air temprature (which is a feed into the ECU from a sensor on the intake). The green light on my dash comes on when the air temp dial reads 5 degrees. I might colour code the air temp digital dial in green, amber or red like the dash light... scratchchin

BUT
What are the green and red pointers in the Tacho ? scratchchin

ETA
Cold weather has produced less grip for my (shagged) rears
which turned in my favour yesterday when, trapped in a monotonous queue,
I did my first (intentional) 180° turn.

Hi PFJ smile
They're Min/Max markers. Which are stored indefinitely. Or, until you hit "Reset Min/Max" on the menu. Handy for monitoring water temprature etc..

Hi Simon,

Almost certainly the thermistor has rotted out and the contact is now broken. When this happens the red light will be on all of the time. The thermistor is located down in the nose of the car, near the horns. You might have to remove your front number plate to reach it. In there you should find a plastic housing on the end of a wire, the plastic housing has a snap-fit catch on one side and is hinged on the other. Open this up, take out what's left of your old thermistor and replace with one of these:

Also available from Racing Green (when their website's working!).

Olly

Just some pictures:

You can find the thermistor here.

It is taped to the front wiring loom.
Now you can easily replace the whole sensor...

... or disassemble & repair it with an 10 KOhm NTC.

Wow, thanks Olly, for that comprehensive reply, sounds very do-able, i'm really gonna have to do this now, now other people have contributed !

Great pictures Blecheimer, intresting that its an NTC sensor, I use NTC sensors at work, they are quite common in the Refrigeration trade,
I'll try one over the next few days and report back either way.

Thanks fella's.

Is a B Value of 3950 OK? That seems to be the spec of most of the eBay 10k thermistors.

That should be ok. My NTC has 4050K. A member of the german TVR-Forum (Indianer) successfully used a NTC with 3975K.
You can easily test it by simply connection the NTC to the sensor's plug. Cool the NTC down to 0°C and the light must turn red.
