Please could someone with access to the Audi full repair manuals for a 2012 Q3 2.0 TDi (177) please tell me what this fault code means "1048578 - No Basic Setting". The car runs OK but I'd like to know what is causing the error. I've tried clearing the fault with VCDS but it returns each time.

Thank you.

For reference here is the VCDS scan output....

Means the dash hasnt had a basic setting.

This fault code if often generated after the service light is reset, before the car has fully learnt the way you drive it, to calculate when the next service is due.

We see it all the time, just ignor it.

Alternatively you can perform basic setting on the dash and then the code will clear.

Many thanks for your reply Tame Technician. Excuse me if I'm being thick here but how would I go about performing a basic setting on the dash?

When using VCDS to perform output tests on the instruments module I got not response at all when testing the following:

Hot light
Low fuel level indicator light
Windscreen washer fluid level low indicator lamp

I wondered whether that could had caused the fault code?

Just to conclude this thread, my Q3 has been into my local Audi dealer for an MOT and they looked at the fault code for me. It turns out that, as you suggested, the previous reset of the service light was not completed correctly.

Thanks.
