The RS60 Spyder - End of an era...
Discussion
Whilst preparing my RS60 Spyder for trade in against my next Porker I thought it would be good (or bad!) to workout how much it has cost to maintain the car to a very high standard and keep it in excellent / showroom condition continuously.
FYI below is the history of work on the car with costs. It currently has 57k miles and I have owned it over 5 years in which I have not experienced a single problem - an incredible car, which is always fun and drives beautifully.
13 Sep 2014 - 6 year service by OPC Silverstone £650.
02 May 2014 - New OEM windscreen (cosmetic) by Glasstec £658.
19 Apr 2014 - New OEM front brake pads by RPM £280.
12 Apr 2014 - New Michelin Super Sport rear tyres by Grays Autocenter £500.
01 Feb 2014 - New ignition coils and side ventilation grilles (cosmetic) by OPC Mid Sussex £350.
21 Sep 2013 - Full detail and wheel refurb by KDS Keltec and Lepsons £1050.
27 Aug 2013 - Oil change and new mudflaps (cosmetic) by OPC Mid Sussex £337.
30 Apr 2013 - Oil change and roof seal lubrication by OPC Mid Sussex £238.
12 Jan 2013 - New Michelin Super Sport tyres all round by Event Tyres £988.
21 Jul 2012 - Geo by Centre Gravity (plus repairs) £490.
17 Sep 2012 - 4 year service by OPC Mid-Sussex £750.
01 June 2012 - Rear bumper respray by OPC Mid-Sussex (cosmetic) £366.
13 Mar 2012 - Oil change and smart repair by OPC Mid Sussex £450.
12 Sep 2011 - Oil change & mot by OPC Mid Sussex £300.
17 Jun 2011 - New Michelin PS2 N2 tyres, discs and pads all round by OPC Mid Sussex £2500.
17 Mar 2011 - Front bumper respray by OPC Mid-Sussex (cosmetic) plus new Paintshield £1060
31 Jul 2010 - 2 year service by OPC Mid-Sussex £1087.
07 Oct 2009 - Cruise Control fitted by OPC Silverstone £400.
19 Sep 2009 - Paintshield applied to car £3000.
29 Aug 2009 - New Michelin PS2 N2 rear tyres by Wheels In Motion £570.
22 Aug 2009 - Oil change by OPC Silverstone £230.
Total maintenance cost over 5 years = £16,254. Not including insurance, road tax or fuel.
So roughly £3250 per year for me to keep the car in almost new condition.
In conclusion, I have maintained the RS60 to my standards, it has been faultless, and an absolute pleasure to own.
Finally, what a car - there really is no substitute!

When I saw you recently, I assumed you'd moved it on.
Having seen the car in the flesh, I can confirm that it has been looked after very, very well.
Hi Paul - I'll always have a Porsche in my life Having seen the car in the flesh, I can confirm that it has been looked after very, very well.

Thanks to your expertise the windscreen was the final touch to get the car looking as new. Unfortunately last week I picked up a 1.5mm chip on the CLS from a big stone that came from a tiny car at 40mph some distance away... Luckily it is above the line of vision otherwise we'd have to get the factory to make another screen!
Seasons greetings

Well done, a well kept car. I would make a comment though , as I have on other threads re Paintsheild Type products perhaps you could have saved you £4000 spent there ? I note you still need front and rear bumpers painted.
Thanks
The bumpers were painted again because of bumper scuffs caused by other cars in London. In hindsight I would not put film on the whole car but just the front half and rear arches. When KDS detailed the car they only found one stone chip on the door handle where there was no film. Also around 40k of the miles are motorway and given my severe OCD I could not tolerate seeing my car peppered like my Golf was previously.

Surely this car would sell well privately rather than a low px offer, although that might be the idea with this thread!!
Probably, though I haven't placed an ad as I'm not keen on random people turning up... It's not going to be available until Feb either. The post was to highlight the maintenance costs and it confirms one thing - there's no such thing as a cheap Porsche! (Bar those that have been sold for profit)

You have certainly looked after it
Excuse the daft question, but how does it differ from a normal Boxster? I am familiar with the later Spyder which looks different, but yours appears to have a normal roof.
The last image has got the spec differences over the standard Boxster. Although some ppl call it a parts bin special there were non-cosmetic differences and the sum of the parts come together to give a more enjoyable driving experience over the base car. Ultimately at least to me it's a better, more fun car, and if you drive one you can understand why Clarkson in his review said "it feels Italian".

LOL nobody yet as I was planning to keep it a couple more months, but have informed a few good dealers it will be available soon...
Would you mind sending me a PM with the price you are hoping to get for it?Thinking of moving my 2005 987 on & this has caught my eye....
Thanks.
Please inform me also regarding a sale before being robbed by the dealers (i have just sold my gallardo) and still need a sports car and have a soft spot for the rs60.... problem is there are too many cars at this budget to choose from...
z4m coupe, maserati gransport, m6, v8 m3, an 09 boxster s with the dfi engine.... too many choices...
