Ford GT: Pic Of The Week

Well what on earth else was it going to be this week?

In 2015 it's fairly extraordinary that Ford managed to keep a 600hp supercar completely secret before a motor show debut. Sure, there was some prior speculation but not a single confirmed detail. Combine smartphones, social media and huge excitement and it seems incredible that nothing was leaked about this car.

The GT has dominated all coverage of the Detroit show this week, in a similar way to the Toyota FT-1 did last year. Of course the difference with this show surprise is that Ford is really going to make it, the car will be on sale next year and nobody can really wait.

We fully expect the GT to feature as Pic Of The Week again, that impossibly dramatic shape evoking the past without the retro vibe of the old GT. Bet it'll look great going sideways... We've even got two for one this week, the traditional and portrait layouts using the head-on view and the car in profile for the widescreen formats. Fill your boots!

Traditional (4:3)
Computer widescreen (16:10)
TV widescreen (16:9)
Portrait (smartphone, etc)

I love most of the car's styling, but IMO the front is its worst angle. Should have chosen a picture whilst shows the wacky aerodynamic design at the back, IMO. smile

If VW Auidi Group had released something as striking as this people would be up in arms.

Looks great to my eye.

Nah!
I'm no Ford fan but I don't car what name/badge it carries, just no.
The GT looks like it's trying to hard to look stunning, the way the yanks would do it in fact.

WOW that is nice. And if it's not "retro" enough for some, there are plenty of the last Ford GTs kicking around for £150K, and they were pretty perfect in my eyes.

With English skills like that, I'm not surprised you're pleased with yourself hehesmile

The 'old' GT was/is a perfect, well judged retro inspired supercar.

I think the reason this 'new' GT came as a surprise to the public and journalists alike is that it was clearly, hastily fudged together (stylistically) they can't let go of the past, they've misjudged the present and it doesn't look at all futuristic....

Whilst the new Honda NSX gets justifiable stick for not looking new or even very original, at least it is measured and consistent. This is a bit of 'Old' GT forn and rear and then throw some supercar bits into the middle...

Can't wait to see one on the road.
I'm a fan of its predecessor too.
