What are people's thoughts on fitting a BMW s65 supercharged engine into the Gtr?

That certainly is not something seen often as far as I am aware. What type engine is it?

It's a v8 from the newer shaped m3, but they do bolt on supercharger kits then re map. Depending on kit between 500-750 bhp.

It is.
But that engine is sweet 9000+ RPM available!
Even with a mild tune it would be a pretty quick car.
I suspect it would have all the usual hang ups of modern tech and you would have a nightmare with all of the sensor inputs/outputs etc.
Probably not an easy engine to run on an aftermarket ECU either.

I think it wouldn't be too difficult to get it set up and running on a Motec ecu, plenty of S65 engines in race carslike this, you'd just need to sort the refinements like cold start etc..

Would definitely make an interesting package.

Are these engines conventional or direct injection?

My E91 is direct injection (n52 engine) so I see no reason why the more hipo S series Motorsport engine would not be direct injection as well.

Don't the S65 motors have serious problems with the bearings (can't remember whether crankshaft or conrod)? It would be worth rebuilding a second-hand motor with the reliability upgrades, assuming there are any.

Or you could just use a reliable (if not so interesting) motor, like one of the LS series.

The V12's been done seen no reason you cant fit a V8 beemer.... Sure our friends in Germany have fitted one seeing as that engine would already have passed TUV regs... for Engine adapters ask Kennedy Engineering.. in fact with the lower torque level of a higher revving engine you might be able to fit say a Audi transaxle, defiantly allot cheaper..

Sounds like an interesting swap, although i think the BMW engine is heavier than a Chevy LS3 or LS7 not by that much but still something to consider.

I messaged Kennedy, just waiting for reply from them.
I do like the LS engine, but just wanted to be different from what everyone else does. Open to other suggestions as not brought the engine yet. Only got chassis at the min.

What about one of the Lexus V8s? Supposedly very reliable and tuneable (apparently 6-700bhp without modifying the internals). Some of the USA sites list experience with the tuning.
An LS400 is as cheap as chips.

Doesn't anyone know who could make an adaptor kit for porsche g50? I've been looking and can't seem to find anyone for sensible money.

The Audi route is a much simpler one, as they have transmissions that can bolt on and act as transaxles. They are relatively cheap if they go bang.

Want more power - add turbos.

Koenigsegg can't be wrong...... can they?

Did you mean Audi engine and gearbox Paul, or just BMW engine to Audi box?

maybe
http://www.bncproducts.com.au/transaxle_adaptor_ki...

CMS have the v12 Adaptor plate
http://californiamotorsports.net/collections/kit-c...

if you want different, why not the ford coyote/miami/vodoo engines, bigger capacity than the S65 and 1UZ, DOHC, 4 valves per cylinder, 8000rpm, heaps of after market hot rod support
