I am looking to replace an old Karcher pressure washer, and am looking at either another Karcher or Bosch for about £120 max.
Karcher are obviously the market leaders, but is it worth giving some other manufacturer a try?

Use will be for cars, drive way and patio.

Any recommendations from personal experience?

Agreed, look at Nilfisk. I've had both Bosch and karcher in the past and ended up have to chuck them after they broke (Bosch especially crap). Picked up a Nilfisk a good few years back and it's been superb.

They WERE - the current models are nothing like their old ones.

Nilfisk - Again!

Just got one when they were in the sale at Argos, only £39.95! Bargain! (And it had the patio cleaner attachment too!)

Its great, the more expensive models are supposed to be excellent too

As far as i'm aware, Karcher have plastic bodies pumps, Nilfisk use Aluminium pumps

And another - but possibly because last year someone posted a link to a hot deal!

No complaints with it though, other than the plastic outlet at the back is a bit vulnerable.

Without sounding like a broken record, Nilfisk is head and shoulders above Karcher these days. I had a Karcher before, an oil seal somewhere inside the washer must have split and a slow release of oil was pumped onto the paintwork.
The nilfisk has behaved impeccably, taking water from a tap and pumping it at higher pressure through the nozzle. That's all I want it to do.

Nilfisk for me too. Had others, all broke. This has been going strong for at least 4 years now.

Got mine from amazon, I beleive Clas Ohlson also do them in-store.

Had too many K2's they are just not up to the job. Bit the bullet and bought a K4 which is proving far more resilient.

My Bosch was utter crap too. When I can afford another one I'm getting a Kranzle K1152 TST, really expensive but has, I believe, a stainless steel pump and is pretty much bullet proof unlike the Bosch and Karcher which didn't last long at all.

Nilfisk.

I had 3 krapchers in a year, the crappy plastic pump fails / seals leak. I then upgraded the krapcher to one with brass internals. It lasted about 7 months, the pump failed.

Bought a Nilfisk and had no problems in 4 years.

OK
I've seen a Bosch 37-13 at B&Q for £115 and the local DIY store has Karcher K2 with 20% off (£85 ish).

From the replies on here, I think I shall be heading for a Nilfisk C110 at about £85.

Thanks to the collective wisdom of PH.
