Picked the Tuscan up from Topcats this evening with a new T56 magnum box in it. Great job done by Warren and the lads, smooth changes and cruises at 80mph at 2100 rpm. What with that and the other work to eradicate some more of the problems left by the original conversion company it's running the best it ever has. Really looking forward to a few long runs in it now especially Le Mans the long round 😃

Defiantly the best LS company in my humble opinion

Cheers all

Glad you've got it running as it should.

Warren and his team do seem to go that extra distance to satisfy there customers.
As well you know I only had a very small job carried out but I couldn't fault them.

I am surprised the T56 conversion is not more popular, sounds like a really good mod.

Gear changes are so smooth and will apparently get even better. You can select any gear in any order, I went from 6th to 4th to 2nd with no problem and also other combinations just to see if I could. When you are cruising along in top the car feel so relaxed at motorway speeds. Haven't had it long enought to tell but I should imaging the mpg has been vastly improved as long as I keep my foot out of it. Also the clutch parts are cheaper and avalible as individual parts so should keep future costs down. I will be putting some milage on it ASAP so I'll report back as it gets used more. Cost wise best speak to warren as mine also had a lot of other problems, like the engine was crooked in the frame etc so my cost included a lot of other work.

Darren I bet those carbon bits look good on the speed 6 have you fitted them yet ?

Cheers

I've got a TR6060 6 speed in my Griff, gear change is like a rifle bolt and a bit smaller and lighter than the T56

Excuse the diversion from topic. Anybody ever fitted an extended angled gear lever to T5 box gear change? Just seen one on Utube racing Grifiths 400 at Spa 6 hours. Handgrip of lever only 6 inches from steering wheel side and nicely angled. Looks the business for quick and easy rapid gear change. Perhaps the operating angle is too wide!

6060 have an internally sprung shifter mechanism which really works well. I've not tried the magnum, but the 6060 is nicer than my old t56

the casing on 6060 and t56 is pretty much same apart form the tail end, the t56 is a splined output, the 6060 is a 3 fingered output, perfect to fit a prop with a cv joint.

a big advantage of the t56 and 6060 over the tko is the bell housings and clutch etc are all stock gm, so they're pretty cheap, in stock off the shelf. whereas the tko are a little more specialist, (repower make the bell housings and clutch etc)

Absolutely agree with this you need to be careful. I had a nightmare with a TKO 600 on my LS. I bought an LS to TKO transmission package gearbox, bell housing, clutch etc. from a well known Tremec dealer which went wrong. When I had a specialist look into it the bell housing was the problem, specifically the spacing of the gearbox from the engine. The gearbox was not close enough to the engine so the first motion shaft was only just into the spigot bearing. Add to that the bell housing did not have the provision for lower fixings into the LS sump so was never completely stable. There were also issues with the angle of the action of the external slave cylinder which ultimately failed and caused me to look deeper into the set up. The image below shows how the supplier tried to get around the gearbox to engine spacing. The bearing on the right is the standard GM bearing, the one in the middle is the modified version from the supplier in the original package. The one on the left was provided by the supplier to fix the spacing problem pretty much putting the first motion spigot outside the crankshaft. There were other problems with gearbox but I won't go into that. I ditched the TKO set up and went as Steve recommends GM all the way, the TR 6060 comes with a bell housing that fits and takes a concentric release bearing and has been problem free
