I'm just wondering if have the sunroof delete option on a C4S is something that many owners did? Being a no-cost option I would have thought many people would have decided to keep the sunroof.

I've read quite a few posts over the years of people searching for a very long time for a sunroof-less car. Just wondering if the same goes for a 996?

My 996 Turbo did not have a sun roof. I don't think it was a zero cost option. Similarly my current 997 Turbo does not have a sun roof either and I am sure it was a cost item and quite a high cost at that. Both cars were French market (Monaco) cars. I like sun roofs.

I would not want a sun roof either, a combination of aesthetics, handling and safety.

Was just reading an article about UK 996's and it mentioned it was a no charge option to not include a sunroof. Just curious to see if it was common. I know a lot of people now don't want them in their 911's but I dont really mind it, I like how it makes the cabin seem more spacious.

I don't think it was a delete option - more an add option...

Surely a sunroof was a cost option on a 996 C4S?!?

FWIW mine doesn't have one, so I assumed that was the case.

I also have a 997tt with a sunroof and like the fact that it has.

This is what I was reading on PistonHeads.

"A sunroof came as standard with all UK-supplied 996s, unless the owner deleted this as a no-cost option. Most buyers prefer the sunroof to be there, so be sure it works smoothly, quietly and quickly. "

link to article: http://www.pistonheads.com/news/ph-buying-guide-co...

Also from an option codes point there are sunroof delete options.

Wow... Fair enough.

Having seen the number of 996's without a sunroof I just assumed it was an option.. Especially considering what they do charge for as extras.

Given that the vast majority of buyers when would not delete a free sunroof and the number of cars without them, I would be utterly amazed if it was standard, except possibly on the Turbo.

If it was a glass s/r then it would make the cabin appear more spacious from the light but I think the solid roofs will rob the cabin height or headroom and without the light (when closed)

The sunroof was standard on all C16 996 turbo's from birth.
As noted though you could opt not to have one as a no cost option.
