Whilst working on the fuel system of my Ultima I noticed that I like all the washers I use to be the 'right way up'.

Am I suffering from OCD or do others on here do the same thing? If you have to ask if a washer has a 'right way up' then you are not like me!

What started out as a transmission repair seems to have turned into a complete refresh of the back end parts of the car.
I have strengthened the gearbox rear mounting, my chassis top brace, exhaust rear mountings, removed my air-over-oil oil cooler and I am now remodelling the fuel system for better packaging and cooler operation.
Next up is to make some new covers for the coil packs, new heat shields for the side pods to keep header heat away from the fuel system/aircon system. I will also tidy up the sides of my airbox as I have never liked the wrinkles in the heat reflective gold foil.

Then it is on to the second front clip. This one will look a bit more like the Factory one but be interchangeable with my existing one. It will require the removal of two pip pins and two electrical connectors and the whole clip can be removed. Fitting the new one is just as simple!

What have you been doing?

Are you OCD?

Yes, you probably have OCD. Bloke on the other side of the road from where I live blows his drive with a leafblower EVERY day. There haven't been any leaves for a couple of months, but he still does it. You can set your watch by the time I hear him fire it up - he can't help it. I'm sure you can't either smile

I can't understand how you didn't fit your washers the correct way up in the first place, I did smile

Yep, I've been doing that with washers as long as I can remember. When I occasionally encounter one the "sides" of which can't be determined, I'll reject it (unless I'm really desperate) and grab another.

Yes, always fitted the right way round.
Many of the washers supplied buy Ultima are chamfered so no doubt which way the should be fitted.

I am honoured that the Master has a similar affliction to myself.

I must be saner than I thought.

I'm an electrician and when installing cable containment ie tray or trunking there's hundreds of washers, everyone has to go the right way! Lol and when I see one of the other lads putting theirs in wrong way, I have to swap it without them seeing so they don't think I'm nuts!
