Obscure request smile

My partner is going back to work and is training to be a Science teacher. The unisex lab coat she's been given drowns her as she's fairly slight & they seem to be designed for the more 'robust' figure.

Are there any lady scientists, doctors, lab techs etc who could recommend where I could get her a more tailored one as a wee surprise ? They all look the same online.

Get one from a school outfitter.

Ours were like wrap coats and all fitted well from 11 upwards to 6th form.

And the best thing in the 6th form was being allowed a white one (lower school was navy) and having an accident in the washing which meant a pink one.

You can get shirts taken in from the sides for £12, might be a good option to do the same with a lab coat.

I found a few like that but smallest is size 10. I think she's an 8. It's also hard to tell from piccies whether it's 'tailored'. School outfitters is a good shout.

Would it be prudent to just buy an inexpensive generic one and have it altered to fit at a local seamstress? Google will provide you with somewhere nearby that'll do dress/suit alterations.

Maybe, can't be a unique problem though. Thought someone may know where to get one off the shelf.

If she's worried about the lab coat fitting properly, she should get one altered - it really does make a massive difference. I had to get some trousers done once, and now I always get my suits adjusted.

She may well be better with a size 10 if she's an 8 as it's likely she'll be wearing it over the top of her "normal" clothes IYSIM.

I sell ladies clothes (although not lab coats!) and a lot of women do this with coats etc.

This is what you're picturing isn't it OP? There is nothing wrong with the one she has, you're just disappointed it doesn't look like this?

Guess what turned up in the post today - a labcoat ! She went and ordered her own.

Unfortunately it doesn't look like the one above.

Thanks to all who replied

Funnily enough my 7 year old daughter took me to see it on Friday as my 'birthday treat'. It certainly was. Filled out nicely.
