Hi All.
Got one free and working, one is pig seized, left soaking in pluss gas, if it's scrap, which car are they off, the wiper arm is held on with a nut. Its a Lucas 29w wiper motor, know they were more than one type fitted.

I think that Car Builder Solutions (CBS) might do replacements for the wheelboxes and intermediate sleeves? They sell entire systems for kit cars if I remember correctly.

Replaced mine some time ago , got them from the now defunct TVR carparts. They are different, one I recall is a fairly common ratio the other not so readily available but this might all be irrelevant because my S3 is cable operated but is the S1 a linkage system?

As Adrian has already mentioned, he knows "a bit" about TVR wiper assemblies wink

Hi Alan,
Does your wiper set-up resemble this?

Rod & bellcrank operated.
Centre spindle was seized so solid, you could put in in a vice and turn the workbench round trying to free it.
Plenty of plusgas, shock & awe eventually got it free, then a good clean up with carborundum tape & lots if molyslip grease on reassembly

TVR's original corroded alloy housing/mounting tubes had split apart when the powerful motor had tried to turn the bodyshell as well as the seized spindles yikes so I made some new ones out of brass plumbing barrel fittings:

Cemented in place using JB Cold Weld epoxy.

My wiper motor was operating perfectly. It is very powerful and will not stop for flesh or bone, so take care behind the dash when it's operating.

I believe the linkage is from Opel Commodore or Vauxhall Senator LHD, but unable to confirm this with certainty.

Which side do you need Alan?

Think this is a drivers side, where this one looks rusty on the bit that goes through the bodywork the other one had rusted through.

Numbers on the back are: 60027004 10WB and below that.... 23 90 (build date?)

still got "my" calipers? wink

Hi Mike,
Thats the type, Got it off the cable and put it in soak, will try today to see if it works, not wanting to hit it with anything like a hammer just yet. outside looks like new just crap on the inside.

Alan

edit
going to put the old wiper arm on and see if I can get it to move, a bit of side to side might do the trick

Don't think those registration number things like TVR's!

mine are 14", have you got the originals? any good Motor Factor should be able to match them, my guess would be Ford Escort mk2, Capri or something like that with a reasonably small screen scratchchin

Hi All
A bit of luck, the grease was hard as rock, eventually got it free and re greased up, now all back together and works like a dream. There is one thing i can't work out, the self park, it works on 1 and 2 speeds but not sure which wires do the parking. The connector has 5 wires, I have sorted the earth and the 2 speeds, that leaves 2 wires, there is only 3 wires from the connector going to the motor so I guess the other go inside the unit from the socket, looking at a Lucas pin drawing there is a park on pin 2 and live on pin 4, is the park a ground?
