Gen 2 997 GT3 RS
Discussion
Lots of talk of how difficult it is to get a GT4 - just wait & try and buy a 991 GT3 RS - it will be all but impossible . In theory , I'm in with a shout , but in reality , I very much doubt it ! As such , I'm thinking 997 G2 RS instead - would love to know from current owners what they think of their cars , any owners bored of their cars , things to look out for when buying - any thoughts in general really ....... Cheers

Better to drive than a 991 gt3. That's all you need to know. Now go and find one. They are epic. I'm lucky enough to own a 7.2 GT3 RS and a 991 GT3. Both are amazing cars but there's just something about the 997 that the 991 has lost despite being a more capable car, if that makes any sense. Maybe the 991 RS will move the game along but I'm not sure I will ever find out! The manual gearbox of the 997 has got a lot to do with it but there's more to it than that, it's just hard to describe. If I could only keep one, it would be the 997.
I think it is a fantastic car - incredibly engaging to drive, with that wonderful engine noise up the rev range making the driving experience all the sweeter - and I'm definitely not bored of it!
In terms of things to look out for, apart from the usual, all cars should have been in for the 2013 "Workshop Campaign" to replace the centre intake-air distributor

Thanks for the tip - what was wrong with it ? In terms of things to look out for, apart from the usual, all cars should have been in for the 2013 "Workshop Campaign" to replace the centre intake-air distributor

Something about the risk of a component in the original distributor breaking, which might cause loud noises and possibly worse. I presume it should be pretty easy to confirm the replacement has been carried out, and also easy to get it done now if for some reason it was missed at the time and the cycle of servicing hasn't picked it up sinceI was up at Silverstone for my GT3 day experience (was that fun!!!)
On the circuit and the 997 GT2RS was out as well
When we finished I had a chat with the Porsche driver about the GT2RS - he said that the 991 GT3 was miles and miles ahead of the GT2. It did not impress him at all as a car
And it looked outdated oddly enough

The 7.2 is just much more interactive. Better steering, manual change, better noise most of the time. The 991 is faster and more clinical. And dare I say it, boring in comparison.
