Slithering round Spa: Time For Tea?

Never seen a 911 crossed up through Eau Rouge? You need to!

This video has probably been quite widely viewed already but it really deserves even greater exposure. Good onboard laps of Spa Francorchamps always make excellent videos but this three minute clip in a 911 is something else again.

It's just sideways. Everywhere. It could be setup or just driving style but it makes for a spectacular video. Half a turn of opposite lock through Eau Rouge? Why not? Powersliding the whole of Pouhon? Easy. Just wait until the Lotus Cortina gets passed coming up to Blanchimont. You will need to watch it again.

And all this while still going while still going really very fast indeed. What a masterclass!

Watch the video here.

Would say he needs to get a proper setup done on the car, but pretty epic none the less.

I also hate the current crop of hypercars, they all make cars like these seem soo slow.

That is fantastic and what a noise!

I love how all of us would have a slow down lap and pit for a sweet tea. Racing driver simply urges his fast car to give more straight line speed and adjusts his rear view mirror with one finger.

I wanna be a racing driver when I grow up.

Very nice, still not the RUF yellowbird on the 'ring. That's a well driven Porsche!

Fair play to the chap in the driving seat, he's clearly a hand - but that car looks like a pig to drive. As for that overtake on the E-type - I trust this was a race not a trackday...

Qauli for either the 6 hours of Spa or the Spa Classic.

Definitely setup. I think they wired his steering the wrong way round.

He must be a lanky bugger as well, he barely fits in that cabin! Looks very uncomfortable to do a stint in.

Epic driving nonetheless though.

Your anorak is safe and can remain on the coat stand.

Obviously no skill at all in keeping an old 911 over steering on the track without spinning. I know what I'd rather watch!

On skinny historic racing tyres and with old 911s' weight distribution (particular the earlier SWB ones), it's always going to have a tendency to oversteer. As the video demonstrates, it's a constant battle against the pendulum effect.

It's epic driving and appears to be a very fast little car indeed for its class.

Yes, totally agree, even my Carrera 3.2 was very like this when the suspension was a bit too soft on the rear. The good thing about the early 911s is that they almost help you as you can drive with a loose wheel and allow the car to dial in a lot of the counter steer for you.

The driver was very neat and tidy though, my arms used to flail around more as one of Flemkes mates called Dan kindly pointed out.
