PHTV is here!
Tune in to PistonHeads all-new TV show and find out how you can play a starring role!
But times are changing and as of today we're thrilled to bring you a brand new element of the site. Over on the right hand side of the main nav bar you'll see a new link branded 'TV'. This will, perhaps not surprisingly, take you to the new PistonHeads TV section. Here you'll be able to access an eclectic archive of motoring videos, all neatly organised into handy little groups. Over the past few months we've been working hard behind the scenes to create lots more video content, which you can find along with a mixture of archive footage and clips from our good friends across the hall at Autocar. OK, so PH probably already provides more than enough distraction from the stuff you should be doing but a little more can't hurt!
Along with all the usual things you'd expect to find like car reviews, on-track videos and the occasional news story there are two areas we hope will be of particular interest, not least because they encourage a little audience participation. The first is called PHTV Episodes and, believe it or not, this is where instalments of the brand new PH TV show will be stored. That's right, we've got our own show.
Each week it'll bring together the best bits of PistonHeads, squashing it up into some Class-A motoring goodness for all to enjoy. In addition to this you'll spot the section called User Videos, which is where it gets really interesting.
In short we're taking community-sourced car videos to a whole new level. All you need to do is upload your video clips direct to the site and our video ninjas will take your content and professionally edit it into a slick-looking video for you and the entire community to enjoy. It could be footage of some truly heroic track day driving, a video diary of a restoration project, footage from a road trip or Sunday blast with fellow PHers, your personal impressions of a major motoring event or even just giving us a walk around of your latest purchase. Whatever you've been filming we want to see it. Well, up to a point... To help you out we'll be publishing some 'how to' guides to give you some hints, tips and ideas for the kind of thing we're after. Who knows, maybe you'll be behind the next viral smash hit!
And if you already have some footage you think the world needs to see then use this link and get uploading - it might even have the honour of being the very first vid ever featured on a PHTV episode!
If you're good enough to create something interesting to watch then you're probably going to have your own YT channel (or should have), and if not then why would anyone want to watch it?
I'm very pleased that PH are going to start doing more of their own video stuff, that's a great idea, but I'm really not keen on relying on us to essentially produce your work for you. Unless there's payment involved, or some kind of goodies, of course. It kinda reminds me of car shows that charge supercar owners to park in the prime locations, when basically they're the attraction in the first place. In my own weird head, anyway.
Sorry chaps, good luck with this, but I really hope you're not going to be relying on us to generate your content for you.

(Someone has to do the sausage stuff though for a laugh!)

Ted started http://pistonheads.tv/ in 2005.
Also, the Pie&Piston was only opened in late 2004, not in 1998, like the pub sign suggests. Pedantry matters.
etc
edit ignore that I just re-read it properly.
