Sky Jag earns its stripes

F-Type bike carrier liveries up to support Wiggins' and co in early season outing

This'll get the Pedal Powered forum humming! Remember the Team Sky F-Type specially converted to carry time trial bikes on last year's Tour de France? It's back and proudly wearing a new livery for the prologue stage of the Paris-Nice kicking off this weekend.

Bearing the rainbow stripes of a reigning cycling world champion, the F-Type celebrates Bradley Wiggins' world title in the time trial discipline last year and will support him and the rest of the Sky Team in the 6.7km time trial that effectively opens the European road cycling season.

""We've got a strong team riding in Paris-Nice," says Wiggins in a press release accompanying the announcement of the car. "It's the first major stage race of the European season, so there's traditionally some added intensity amongst the teams to set their stall out ahead of the classics. Being World TT Champion is a great honour for me and having an F-Type Jaguar in rainbow colours following me on Sunday will be incredible."

Fancy one yourself? Earning the rainbow stripes might be a challenge but speak with Jaguar's Special Vehicle Operations nicely (or, to put it another way, open your wallet wide enough) and they may well oblige.

I think this is the warm up car. The cyclists pedal like fury, the drum inside the boot spins and drives the cars rear wheels. Traction not likely an issue...

Would love to take all three. Though each bike is the price of a decent second hand car.

...or the car is worth about 35 more than decent new bikes...

I'd have the car and buy a Terrain Nevis with the change.
