If you have the time, please post in GBP (including VAT) and miles.

Here is my first effort.

997 C4 GTS, Black, Ceramics, Custom interior. 50k miles on the clock but a deal could be done at £48k inc Vat.

That car is in Italy - massive no-no to start with. We also think it is doing the rounds - it was previously for sale with a dealer up in Northern Italy. Lastly, if you are buying from the EU, there is no VAT to pay. The only reason some adverts talk about "netto", "brutto" or "gross" is if the car is to be exported outside the EU. Hence just take the higher price when it comes to bringing it over here.

So - which EU countries are the recommended ones to go for? Any why is Italy a No No?

Getting the biggest paint brush out of the closet...

Italy - lack of service and care, dodgy paperwork, insurance scams

In Europe, you actually want a Swiss car, shame about VAT+duty+CHF appreciating... Closely followed by Germany - biggest advantage is that it is a criminal offence to declare a car as "accident free" when it is not. Hence if you see "unfallfrei" or "kein unfall" it really means the car has never been pranged.

All the cars I will be posting have 20% VAT included in the price, that way HMRC will be happy when you import it into the UK as VAT is paid. Don't want the VAT price? Just use a calculator.

https://www.gov.uk/importing-vehicles-into-the-uk/...

Nothing wrong with cars from Italy if they are cheap as chips, just have them inspected and do what homework you can. I don't believe a car from a UK dealer is anything special and I treat UK dealers with as much suspicion as Italian one. I presume they clock their cars just as hard as UK ones.

Anyway, thread is not to debate pros and cons of LHD buying, just the cars themselves.

Carl, this is not a CS...

Leather buckets, tequipment cage, central console, no electrical cut-off...

There is not a single CS for sale in Europe at the moment, except a couple of genuine Mk2 Swiss cars...

And this:

Not sure who much VAT you'd have to pay on this - would it be the full 20% ? Seen loads of threads with different answers.

Hey mate, link no work.

If its via official porsche dealership then usually the 20% is applied and no more to VAT pay.

The fact they voted in Burlusconi..more than once, is a clue!

I've imported a few before. I only deal with the Dutch and Ze Germans, and avoid the French and the Belgians. Just based on previous experience and close-calls!

Not sure how to paste the link but the first one is a black 996.2 GT3 at a French OPC for 56K Euro and the other is a Yellow 996.2 GT3 at a Swiss OPC for 59K Euro.

I think a lot of people have not understood the VAT thing.

Many people in the EU buy a car and register it to their company and claim the full VAT back. When they sell it on they charge VAT on the sale price. If the next owner plans to do the same or to Export it out of the EU they can claim the VAT back also.

My friends have run 458's, lambos and all sorts of high end cars like this.

Lets say I buy a brand new car at 120k inc VAT, I claim back 20k in VAT. I then sell the car a few years later at 50k inc vat (41.6k +vat) I only have to pay the VAT man back 10k, so I have actually only lost 58.4k and not the full 70k.
