Jackie Stewart and old Escorts: Time For Tea?

Jackie tries Escorts for the road, track and stage in a delightful old promo vid

If the response to Monday's Escort RS2000 PH Hero is anything to go by, everyone loves an old fast Ford. And who doesn't like a classic marketing video? Imagine if the two could be put together...

So here we have Jackie Stewart and four Mk2 Escorts: an 'L', a Sport and two competition cars - one for the stage and one for the track.

This clip will remind you how far we've come in terms of editing and video production. It's seven minutes in total and could probably be half that. Want to see Jackie Stewart fasten seatbelts and put gloves on? Here's the vid!

But aside from that, there's also some great footage of an RS1800 and the wild 450hp, V6 touring car. Plus you get to see how an Escort front seat folds and Jackie's JPS jet. What more do you need? Get the kettle on!

Watch it here.

Trying to work out what circuit that is. Initially thought it might be Goodwood but perhaps Snetterton?

Yes, that's Snetterton in the late 70s

Yep, sadly killed a long time ago now after mixing with the wrong crowd - something to do with the Brinks-Mat robbery I think? Lovely car though.

When I was a lad, I remember we came back to my Dad's Cortina, to find a guy locked out of his Cortina parked next door. Jokingly my Dad offered to try his key..and it worked!

It is Snetterton.

I only watched the V6 car bit.

There was a similar car at Ford Fair last year, can't be many like that around now.

Yup, knew him briefly back in the early 80's - he was an early active member of the AVO OC, was one of the first people to do a bare shell, nut and bolt renovation of a RS3100 Capri, around 1981/2.
